      Welcome to the forum!

It's common for your first lucids to end prematurely once you realize you're dreaming. The key is to keep yourself calm as best as you can, and know that in time, as you get used to having lucid dreams, the length will increase, and you'll be able to sustain them much longer than you normally could. I would suggest checking out the Dream Stabilization and Clarity Tutorial on the wiki for some advice on stabilizing and prolonging your dreams.

Also, and this may be a shot in the dark, but are you sure you're not having false awakenings (FAs)? If you find yourself suddenly in bed like you say, there's a chance you just dreamed that you woke up (also very common in early lucids). Try training yourself to perform an RC whenever you wake up so you can be sure you're actually awake and extend your lucid time if you're not.
"Going through life worrying about the little things is like cooking with motor oil instead of cooking oil. Sure, you can still probably pull it off, but it'll leave a bad taste in your mouth in retrospect." - Me, apparently

Imagine how unhappy you'll be when after 2.2 seconds of lucidity you wake up in a hanging cot on the good ship lollipop and after running around telling all the talking lollipops how unlucky you are for 10 minutes straight you really wake up.

Don't just try to remain calm, try to use verbal commands, try to rub hands, try to observe dreamscape, and if you think you woke up make sure.

P.S. make sure you have some goals (ones you think you can recall for your next lucid) and make sure it isn't just to be aimlessly lucid for at least 10 seconds or at least 1 minute, having a purpose may be critical to reaching those spans of time.

Sure LUCID DREAMS are all fun and games until someone loses a third eye.
