      Hi! Lucid Dreaming Again

Just joined because I'm trying to learn all about lucid dreaming again after 2 years. I was making progress, but couldn't devote the attention to it that I needed to when a family situation changed.

Two years ago I started learning about lucid dreaming & using different techniques to try to have one. At some point, I started doing my reality checks in my dreams. Unfortunately, I couldn't take it to the next step & realize I was dreaming. I saw my husband's mother in a dream & was able to tell her that she shouldn't be there because she passed away, but didn't connect that to it being a dream. I was able to breathe when holding my nose & keeping my mouth closed & I also had a glass window bend around my hand when I tried to push my hand through it. I still couldn't realize that these things happened because I was dreaming.

I started about 3 or 4 days ago focusing on lucid dreaming again & I think I've already made more progress than I did 2 years ago. For the very first time I asked myself in a dream if I was dreaming or awake. I told myself that I thought I was awake, but then I noticed something odd. I didn't make the connection that it was because I was actually dreaming.

I had what I think is considered a false awakening. I read that if you can't write down or record an entire dream right away when you wake up, write down keywords so that you can remember later when you can record it all. I also read that some people use an object (move it; lay it on it's side, etc.) to connect it to the memory of something in your dream. I woke up & couldn't write everything down so I wrote down keywords & laid my bottle of water on its side to remember something. I was surprised when I woke up & saw my water bottle sitting on my bedside table straight up & no list of keywords. It seemed so real, but all of it was actually a dream.

I recorded about 9 different dreams just from last night/early this morning (one of them could have actually been snippets of a couple dreams, but I wrote it all down so quickly). Because of my really good dream recall & some of the dreams where I have felt more aware of the possibility that I might be dreaming, I hope I can succeed someday soon having a lucid dream.

Sorry if I'm rambling, I'm just very excited about getting involved in studying & learning about lucid dreaming again. I am so anxious to hear about everyone's experiences & learn from them!

      Thanks!!,
      Cathy

Sounds like you have a good plan and good grasp of what you need to get lucid dreaming again.

Yes, FAs can be confusing but also fun. Try to do RC - reality check every time you get up from the bed. Then this will start happening in your FAs and you will get lucid that way.

If you have any questions, just ask. Happy dreams

I believe it shows your convictions when you join a group,
Also I believe in the effects of mass consciousness i.e mixing with like minded people strengths your concepts

      Welcome to the forum!

It definitely sounds like you're making good progress. FAs can be interesting - it's even more disorienting when you get up, get a shower, brush your teeth, and then wake up again.

Anyway, let us know if you have any questions, and feel free to stop by the IRC chat.

Thanks everyone! I've read about people having FAs where they do their whole morning routine. That must be wild! I'm so happy to be here & so anxious to learn as much as I can!
