      Hello everyone at Dreamviews

Hello, first of all, thanks for the website and forum.

I have been (re) researching dreams in the last few months. Partly prompted by some very vivid dreams.

When I was younger, a child, teenager, I regularly had sleep paralysis, or would fall asleep with all the whooshing buzzing sounds. In fact occasionally this still happens! Or the feeling of falling asleep but then be fully awake, like the feeling that my eyes (and mouth!) are wide open, that's the sensation anyway, then accompanied by various shapes, sounds, voices, colour flashes and so on. Recently this happens maybe once a month (that I recall). Not long ago I was drifting to sleep then suddenly heard a whole "piano' play up the scales accompanied by purple flashes! (then I fell asleep!).

There are friends I have who have done all this (lucid/'obe') all their life and invented their own terminologies. They've encouraged me to research a bit.

At the moment, I am interested in the connection between daily thoughts/feeling, during the day. Also, the 'connective' aspect, for example, it seems lucid dreams can also be a place for being more 'aware' or connected to not only the lucid dream world but the waking life world.

Also, the connection between 'standard dreams' and lucid dreams, which seems are a memory of a memory of a lucid dream?

I have had precognitive dreams. I have had people I know meet me in dreams and inform me things about themselves or events (though they either do not exactly remember the details but they may recall a dream with me in).

So, something that is also fascinating, is the possibility if you were lucid, to control who you visit in their dream/consciousness, to impart 'information' to them, and then that person, if they are non lucid, would recall the memory as a 'standard dream' ? Any thoughts people have or experiences would be interesting to hear!

For example: someone who is non lucid, can set an intent to do something in a dream - though they may not remember it, is it possible that they would have indeed done this, to some degree, even though not even recalled as a dream?

I was recently told by another regular lucid friend that I was being communicated with by another ummm for want of a better word 'soul' and that I did not recall always, but if I did recall, (as I do through vivid unusual dreams) I do not understand the "words" bring communicated.

So, if dreams create a language, how to decode!!?

Also, the false awakening, Ive experienced this very recently where I was aware enough to notice something different, the light in the room etc, and said to myself, is this really morning or am I dreaming? Then not sure what happened, whether I fell back fully asleep or awoke at that point . . .

Anyway, thats probably enough introduction for now!

      Thanks

PS. I should say, I have experienced lucid dreams but not for many years! Maybe 20 years . . . !

Awesome questions you have there. Feel free to start a thread or two and invite others for a discussion. Dream related in General Dreams section, Lucid related in General lucid, and spirits/SP and such in Beyond dreaming section. That way you will target your intended audience.

The sounds and other sensations you experienced while falling asleep are actually not sleep paralysis. They can happen at the same time, but they just coincide. All those sensations are hypnogogic halluciantions, or HH (also known as HI - hypnogogic images). They mark transition to a dream and if you notice them, that means you are still aware and you have a great chance to enter the dream and be lucid.

Please ask if you have any questions. Happy dreams

Hi Gab, Yes indeed, I had the sounds and flashes down as hypnogogic imagery (I believe the version on waking is called hypnopompic). They seem to vary in intensity.

Thanks for the message - I will explore the forum topics further.
