Red face G'day from an Enthusiastic Australian LD'er!

Hello all! I'm an 18 year old girl from Australia, I've known about LD'ing for a while and have just recently started really practicing it. I've always had dreams with some vividness and they've improved a lot in quality as I practice LD'ing! I've always enjoying dreaming, even nightmares.

I've been practicing for about almost a month now and I've had pretty good results I think! One lucid dream that was a bit fuzzy and hard to control after a false awakening, two false awakenings that ended immediately, and a DILD that kicked me out almost immediately. My worst enemy right now is my dream guardian, I have no idea what to call it, someone or something that kicks me out of my dreams by brute force. My DILD resulted in my DG tossing me around the room, even remaining calm, telling myself that this thing was just apart of my conscious (or subconscious) and that I could control it, but to no avail. I've had issues with stabilization and trust me, I'm doing soo much research on how to properly stabilize my dreams. Just gotta get past that damn DG, but I'm sure it'll come with practice.

I've tried WILD+WBTB with little to no success, can't get past the 'whole body feels tingly and like some of your limbs are missing' stage, so I moved onto FILD+WBTB and I've had much more success with two FA's. I'll keep at it!

Sorry for the long introduction, I'm just really enthusiastic about this haha.

Awesome. Hi and welcome to the forums. Hope you enjoy your time here!

I think you're on the right track. Good that you remain calm. When dealing with that DG, my thought is to try to go with the flow of it, and just keep facing whatever fears come your way. I would also not try to control anything until it's over. It may be your subconscious fear of LDing. I hope things turn positive for you. Goood luck!

Also, check out our Tasks of the Year for some community fun.

      Hi, welcome to the forum.

It's rare to see others talk about enjoyment of nightmares; although I can't say I truly enjoy all aspects of them, it's usually the ones involving some kind of rush that I find most enjoyable, though nightmares in general are rare for me now.

Your dream guardian as you call it, sounds to me like what other people refer to as "dream police" and other such things. To be honest, I've never had any real issues with anything like this, so I can only say that my impression, and therefore this is just my opinion, is that people who struggle with these issues might have some kind of subconscious imprint or bias that makes them focus too much on this aspect. I could easily see this as something that relates to a non-conscious expectation and schemas surrounding self-enjoyment or forbidden pleasures and so on.

Personally, I would suggest that a way to deal with an issue such as this is to make it a non-issue by not focusing on it or changing tone and tact. For one thing, forget that it's an issue, think of real reasons why you should worry about it, and then answer those reasons with real reasons as to why you don't need to worry. Honestly, it'd be like worrying about tripping every time you walk. There's always going to be something that can potentially go wrong, be annoying, forceful or downright aggressive towards you in a dream, and that doesn't mean it has to be an issue.

For example, you started talking about it like this "my worst enemy right now", so it's immediately apparent to me that some part of you is very antagonistic towards this character from the start. You've also reinforced the amount of room it has in your mind by giving it a specific title. If you allow yourself to reinforce these notions without thinking about what tone you're using and how you're doing basically describing it, you can end up reinforcing the very thing you're wanting to avoid or find gone.

In a sense, you're right anyway, this is about practise. This is totally something that you can help, especially if you're generally being able to get some degree of lucidity with some decent frequency. Ah, and as lucidity is about being conscious, it's also useful to be conscious of how you're reacting and addressing these things that live inside of you.

Welcome to the forum! I agree with what DarkestDarkness says about not giving into the negative expectations of this dream guardian character. They might just be a dream character who has become a little more self aware and are confused by the fact they are in your dreams. Next time try giving them a hug and start a conversation with them. You might find they turn from an enemy into an ally!.

Yes, this is what usually happens - they turn into an ally. Try talking to them, give them a hug, "flow love" to them, etc. You may find out what part of you they represent. If your curious about more, look up Jungian dream analysis, shadow work, archetypes, and animus/anima.
