Hey guys! I'm new to this forum (obviously), but I have been enjoying the effects and experiences of lucid dreaming since I was a little kid (I'm 18 now). I've gone through months without having a LD before, but usually I just start doing RC's more frequently and I can induce them again pretty easily.

I was in such a slump for almost the entire summer (busy summer, moving away from the family, stuff like that, so LD'ing and doing RC's weren't really high on me to-do list), until one night last week. It was a weird dream, and I'm not so sure if it was lucid, which is why I came here!

Note: the ideas in this dream are a little f*cked up, I'm usually a very happy, positive dreamer, so this was sort of a change of pace...but yet it still had a very happy, positive atmosphere.

Apparently I was a "human exterminator," kind of like how we have bug exterminators now. It sounds gruesome, but apparently it is very respected (in my dream world) and my victims have come to terms with the fact that they *need* to be exterminated...weird, I know. The way I did this was by shooting balls of energy out of the palm of my hand, which would dispatch my target silently and painlessly (like I said, I don't like inflicting pain and this is probably a manifestation of that fact), a la Dragonball Z or something.

Here's where it gets really weird--I came upon my next target, who immediately started praising me for what I was doing, telling me that I had to do it (for reasons I still don't know), but then I tried to comfort her by saying:

"Don't worry! You won't actually die, you know why? This is just a DREAM!" Then, just to prove it, I shot her with the ball of energy and then told her to just open her eyes...she did and was very happy.

Fast forward through some stuff I don't really remember, but then I got a phone call from a friend who was standing RIGHT NEXT TO ME...I then handed him the phone to "talk to himself" but no one was there. I then realized that the dream might be morphing into a nightmare and woke up.

Could I have just been dreaming ABOUT having a lucid dream? I don't think I had the kind of lucid control that I normall did, but it still seemed really odd...I woke with a cold sweat and breathing very heavily.

Thanks in advance! This has been confusing to me for a while (well, a whole week)

And thanks for not judging on the subject matter of the dream...it's the first of it's kind and hopefully the last.

that is the trippiest dream ihave ever heard. maybe it's your subconcious trying to tell you something. or maybe your gonna really take off on your lucid abilities!

i wouldn't worry about it too much.

Haha yeah I know, trippy sh*t, right? I hope it means I'll take off with my lucidness...but it scared the living crap out of me when I woke up.

Thanks for taking the time to read! I really like this community and am happy to be a part of it.

my dream experiences/abilities seem to wave up and down. I think when dreams jump storylines like that it's almost like your subconcious mind is going through racing thoughts and trying to sort through too many things at once. As far as the human exterminator part - are you sure you have never dreamed of that before? It just seems so detailed with the abilities and emotions of the humans. The reason why I asked is that usually when I find myself in an elaborate dream I realize that I have been in that dream before. Not a re-ocurring dream - more like the next chapter of the same story. That's why they are always so detailed I guess. It's like I have been there before and every time I go back it gets more detailed and I get more wrapped up with the story and characters.

      Hey Dude,

I was wondering if you were familiar with the philosophy regarding dreams that every element (people, things, places &c.) are a symbolic representation of yourself. With this in mind, the "humans" you had to vanquish may represent parts of yourself that have lived their life and are now no longer needed. You specify that there is no need for pain and indeed the "targets" know that it is time and do not begrudge your position... self co-operation, very nice (the self can sometimes be very UNco-operative).

Such self-diagnosis and surgery can be very scary, which I think explains your apprehension after you became uncomfortable with the changes you had to make.

      Dae,

      Rob.

Wow I never really thought about it like that...but that's a really interesting thought, that the people are just parts of me or parts of my character that need to be destroyed and even they know it.

The really interesting part was the so-called "lucidity." I've been lucid before, except this time it was almost like I was dreaming ABOUT being lucid without actually being lucid...do you guys think that's even possible?

And thanks so much for the responses so far, they've shed alot of light on my weird dream.

Glad to be of help. As for whether it is possible to dream of being lucid, I would say yes and no. Yes, in that there doesn't seem to be any/much outright control/awareness but the subject matter is obvious and no, that if you even dream of being lucid, this is an example of at least very low-level lucidity. I know what you mean, I've had many like that... when I look at them in the scheme of my developement they seem to me to be footholds on my way up to higher levels of lucidity.

      Peace out,

      Rob.
