However, I no longer believe that. I'm beginning to believe it may be the siginificant marking of a world wide realisation of somekind.[/b]
December 22, 2012 marks the end of the Mayan Calendar date. There are also several other signs that point to this date, including Nostradamus(citing a near date, I believe)(he also stated something like the beginning of the end would start with two towers getting hit by fire rom the sky).
It's also used in as the end date of Terence McKenna's Novelty Theory. He states that is the day when human "novelty" will reach it's highest. So he's saying that on that date, something more "novel" than anything that has ever happened will happen. He marks it as the eschaton, the sort of end.
He and John Major Jenkins(they wrote a book about this subject), and many others, including me and many of my friends, have speculations on whether that will be when a new level of awareness is reached by mankind.
Terence McKenna had a belief that computers, and information sharing, would play a massive role. Maybe we will birth AI, or maybe we will simply link ourselves all together in a world wide network where information flow is pure and instantaneous(for instance... you feel cold, and I live on the other side of the planet and am quite busy doing something, but I can still recognize that you are cold, wayyy over there doing whatever your doing), where we can feel the emotions of every other person in the world. If we can see all the thoughts, feelings, emotions, and everything else of everybody else in the world, and still hold onto our individuality... well.... things will be interesting to say the least. It's a strange thought...
Or maybe we will all just wake up the next day, and nothing will be any different from how it was before. Only time can tell...
