      Sleep Paralysis

I've read on the internet that sleep paralysis can be a scary experience (especially the part about sensing an evil presence). I am a little naive (I couldn't sleep that night I read about sleep paralysis) I guess, so can anyone share their experiences? I hear that sleep paralysis is needed to do WILD so if SP is keeping me back I can't do WILD. Can anyone help?

This may be hard to explain...actually its real hard to explain how to be experiencing something terrifying and be able to just turn it off...but you can. Keep in mind that you are just asleep and and it is perfectly normal and healthy to feel weird, paralyzed whatever. Resisting the feeling that you are dying or there is an evil presence makes the fear and loathing even worse. This may sound crazy but its best to just go ahead and die if you think you are dying. It may be the exact opposite thing you want to do but it provides instant release from the feeling. Make sense?

I do not think SP is a scary thing at all. I've never sensed an evil presence, which is a good thing in my opinion. I enjoy SP because it feels really funny and unnatural, but you get used to it. In all seriousness do not be afraid because you will not get hurt. (I hope) However, SP is different for everyone.

All my WILDs weren't really the usually standard ones, but they were WILDs and I didn't really feel the SP as paralysis, but I felt myself flying with great speeds through freaky hallucinations. So no, I think it isn't necessary to feel paralysed and stuck to the bed, but it probably happens. I'm guessing that once you master WILD eaven the worst "Old hag" won't scare you.

there was a time when I was sleeping and then I felt myself falling and my leg just jerked and woke me up. Is that also part of SP. I also wanted to know if everyone sensed the presence or is it just for some people...

The stage between wakefullness and sleep is full of magical sh*t. The falling sensation is a tactile hypnagogic sensation I believe, one of many that may occur. It just means that you are passing into sleep and with that you can assume that SP can and should follow shortly(ish). The leg jerking is also a hypnagogic thingy and is called a hypnic jerk.

You also should know that SP is there for your safety, the ocassional "old hag" sindrome, I believe happens because you are still aware when falling asleep and different functions of your brain unintentionally "fight with eacother". You can't move so your conciousness starts being afraid, a part of your brain starts to look for danger, the hypnagogia takes part in the action and manifests your current thoughts and fears etc. So all that might create the witches, aliens or monsters. At least I think that's how it works.

When I was WILDing, right after I woke from a dream and went back, I felt the couch becoming a very viscous fluid, which started sucking me in. When I was fully submerged I started eccelerating through a few freaky/scary/funny HIs. At that moment, as always, I got scared and thought about the "evil presence". The evil presence came as a few second glimpse of an ugly, not so scary witch. Maby others with more experience will have more to say, but the point I was trying to make was that you have a lot of controll over those hallcinations that arise. So, I guess once you are brave and fearless nothing will bother you and if it did you'll just kick its ass.

last night I woke up at 5 am or so and did some wild, when I enter Hypnagogic Stage I felt my body vibrating (the first thing in my mind was Alien Abduction because of the white light) then I opened my eyes and realized that the sun was coming up. too bad I didn't enter the dreamworld. So far i haven't sensed any evil presence (that's fine with me!). so thanks for your help guys!

How long did it take for you to enter the hypnagogic stage?

I have yet to experience the vibrations...how exactly do they feel?

Yeah I should have said that you only get scared if you think its scary. Its not scary at all, just weird.
