It sounds like you reached the onset of sleep paralysis. The problem with WILDing when you first go to bed is that it takes about 90 minutes for the REM period to start. So what usually happens is that you end up stuck in SP for 90 minutes before the dream imagery starts to form, which is boring as hell... However, if you try WILDing after having slept for a few hours, you jump right into REM sleep and the dream comes much quicker. Simply put, WBTB is to lucid dreaming what gasoline is to a fire .
