Lucid dreaming can help with all that. =)
By preparing to lucid dream, you will learn to become more aware of your surroundings, and in turn more appreciative of life. By building up your dream recall, your memory will improve in other areas as well.
Hey, it's tough being in Advanced Placement land. Trust me; I've been there. Many a night was spent under the merciless rule of essays and projects instead of in my comfortable bed, partially due to the nasty habit of procrastination... Anyway, I suggest to slow down! Take a breather every now and then. Collect yourself with a couple deep breaths between classes (and during homework completion). It sounds bogus, but it helps the mind to focus and let go of stress. Also, do you have block schedule? If so, consider yourself lucky! (In the middle of my high school career, I went from the luxury of four classes a day to seven or eight--never a studyhall!).
A writer's imagination, eh? Sounds familiar. Keep writing, if you can find the time. Expression helps to expand the imagination as well as relieve stress. Writing will have the same beneficial effects as lucid dreaming; it'll make you more aware of what's around you, as well as how to value it.
As for the daze itself, I feel it's the byproduct of a tight schedule. Do you participate in any sport, whether it be school-organized or recreational? Exercise does wonders for the mood, as well as overall health. Not much else I suggest here, except for remembering to smell the roses every once and a while. Savor each bite of food you eat, feel the rhythm of the music you listen to, pay attention to your family. It's the small stuff that makes life grand.
Welcome to Dreamviews, and good luck!
