      any tips for midnight motivation?

Hey all, i've sort of been reading the forums, but i was a tad shy about registering

I was looking in the feedback section, (dont have any idea why, apart from bordem) and in one of the topics someone mentioned all the people like me should stop being shy and participate. So thats what i'm doing!

I already had my first lucid dream a couple of weeks ago, it was great. Thanks heaps to dreamviews!

At the moment my goals are to not be one of those annoying noobs that you seem to hate, and to continue to be motivated. Also i'm practising sketching/anime because its fun

I've been following some of the techniques i've read in here, and i've decided not to worry about lucidity for a while. What i want to work on is writing down my dreams in the night. It gets a bit frustrating because i have no problem waking myself up naturally after most dreams, but then i convince myself that i'd rather just go back to sleep. Then in the mornings i regret not writing them down, and then i eventually forget them.

I guess its sort of a motivation problem, but in the middle of the night its hard to think rationally.

Does anyone have any specific things they do to stay motivated at night?

As long as you realize that, you wont be annoying to us. Also as you know, post whoring with one syllable words in each post will irk us(so you other noobs, heed my warning)

Does anyone have any specific things they do to stay moticated at night?[/b]
Im going to tell you what i told some other guy the other day...cant really remember who though(i blame it on my lack of sleep so dont be mad at me ok you person(maybe it was turkeh or LDguy..hmm..) Motivate yourself with your favorite food or something delicious. Like ice cream. tell yourself to get up so you can reward yourself with ice cream, then write down your dreams. Use any other food. You could also do the same with your favorite tv show(record it, but dont watch it and tell yourself the only way you can watch it is by waking up at whatever time you want) you can use anything really, but try to reward yourself with something. humans like presents=fact

      Ciao my new born friend

ahh, thats so true! (i like presents )

I think i'll have to buy some chocolate, and put it in my room where its really tempting. Its just getting up and turning on the light thats my problem.

Tonight i might make myself a nice milo, come on to dreamviews and try WBTB.

Put that chocolate inside your DJ book if you have a paperbook that is. Two birds with one stone

yeah man! i always wake up and think 'oh fuck it im way too tired sleep is gooood!' so i just made myself do it - i imagined all the cool things i could be doing if i was lucid dreaming and controlling my dreams, and i made myself accept that fact that dream recall is essential if you want to be aware in your dreams ect... but chcolate and other treats are also good insentives to waking up to write in ur journal ect!!!

i need something to motivate me that reaches me on a low level, in the middle of the night i'm just not thinking properly.

this morning i did WBTB, i sort of used this thread for motivation, if you know what i mean...

In the end i came online and wrote my dream in the interpretation forum, but i was too tired to make anything nice to eat... once i was awake i realised that it was unnessesary to eat stuff... eventually i might need something simple that requires no effort, like chocolate inside my dream journal, just so i have to turn the light on.

hopefully i'll be able to just make it a habit soon.

Its just a fight with yourself. Even if your so tired that you feel like you could sleep the rest of your life. Just sit up, at once you realize that your gonne sleep if you dont wake yourself up more, without even thinking about it. Then you can eat and feast over whatever food you want to. Then write down your dream and clap yourself on your shoulder shouting "Good Boy.. Well done!". Then go back to sleep

Yeah sometimes that 'purely comforotable' sleep is hard to shake off and all you want to do is have a nap.

I suggest we start a thread in sensless or the lounge, called Midnight awakenings or something, to just add random stuff that you can think of if ever waking up in the middle of the night for dream recall

yeah good idea! i think that coming onto this site in the night is a good way to make yourself be in the lucid dreaming frame of mind before you back to bed again and try to LD!
i found that once i made myself get up and write in my dream journal i could do it every night - it's getting used to it and seeing evidence that it works!

Ha! you sound just like me! Anyways what I do is have the paper you're going to write you dream on ready (just make things like Title: Characters: Discription

Put -BRIEF- explinations of every key aspect of that dream, and when yo uare ready to join the wake life for good you can decide wether or not you want to write down the whole thing in your journal. I find it that you shouldent obsese over writing them down becasue it may lower LD efficiency; but thats jsut me, lately I stoped writing them down (be sure you -CAN ALWAYS- remember that nights dream though.

      wow, lots of replies

last night i woke up several times, but couldn't remember anything at all, even though i knew i had several interesting dreams. i just went back to sleep, i decided 'not to obsess'

BUT this morning i sat there for a while thinking about nothing but some detail, and now i can remember most of the dream. i find that if i start by focusing on whatever small thought i can, then i remember an scene which gives me enough to start writing, then all the little things come back as i go...

so my point is i guess i can remember the dreams even if i just write simple notes to get the remembering process started again in the morning, i dont have to do the whole thing (like you've all said )

this will be a big help, i will be able to get back to sleep easier aswell if i want to.

anyway, thanks for all the welcomes, i might post something in the adoptions forum soon...
