Talking Just joined & want to say hi.

      Hello everyone,

I just joined and want to say hi.

LD Always fascinated me, but I never took the time to explore them. I had only 1 LC when I was like 9 and I never had one since. It was a great & short experience. I am 23 now & I think I’m ready to give the LD a try. I guess I just want to see If I can do it, it sounds so great to be able to dream and know that you dreaming.

I am at work right now, so I will make this one short. There is a lot of info on this forum, about how to accomplish LD & I just want to see if I gat this correct. One of the methods to get the LD and this is the method that I want to try during the weekend, is sleep for about 5-6h then wake up, stay awake for about 40-60min. During that time you do some LD reading then try going back to sleep believing and telling your self that you will have a LD. Did I get this right? If I do accomplish my 1st (forced) LD what are some methods out there to control it? Meaning not loosing it. I am also curious; can people in LD actually control the environment & the surroundings? Or do u just play part of an observer in LD?

      All help is appreciated.

      Thank you.

      Welcome,

and yes thats the MILD with WBTB method. Keep reminding yourself that you're dreaming, so you won't lose lucidity and also touch and feel things, rub your hands or spin. That usually will stabilize the dream. And yes, experienced LDers can control the environment to a great extent. At first you'll most likely play an 'oberserver' but I may be wrong, some people are naturals.

      Hi shotbirds,

Would u say that this is the best beginner method?

To tell u the truth, I am so skeptical about all of this, it sounds almost like magic to me! But it’s also very exiting.

I am new here also, but from what I've learned: You have a better chance of achieving lucidity if you attempt it having slept before hand. I would also recommend keeping a dream journal.

There's no reason to skeptical, just think of it as living your imagination.

      Firstly, welcome to Dream Views!

You'll see a lot of people using initials for things such as WBTB, WILD, MILD, CAT, HI, SP, DV etc. There's a list of definitions somewhere. I'll come back in a second and put it in this post ... when I've found it.

That's a hard question to answer. There was once a person who posted here saying he dreamt he was in Japan and couldn't wake up so he got a job and made friends and lived there for months, maybe a years or so. Most poeple didn't belive him, I for one.

However, I do aknowledge that you can have dreams that seem to last a very long time while they only take a very short time in the real world (eg. you can have a dream that feels like an hour and wake up to find that you've only been asleep for 1o minutes).

On the other hand you can have a very short dream, lets say a 2 minute one for example, and wake up to find that it took 2 hours for it to take place.

People can LD for a very long time, I'll grant. But I highly, highly, doubt that someone dreamt for a year. I'm not the best LDer myself so you might try asking others how long thier longest LDs were. I hope that was some help to you!

It definitely was Duck, thank you.

I just did some reading regarding WILD and it appears that it one of the hardest forms of LD. What would u suggest would be the best way for a beginner like me to try and have LD. I know it works different for different people, and I guess I would have to try all methods, but still. I want to try it tonight what should I start with?

      Thanks

MILD using the WBTB method seems to be popular with the new guys. I got my very first LD accidentally using the WBTB method and make sure you get afull 8 hours sleeps, it's said that you double your chances of having an LD from the last two hours.

DILDs dont work easily for me and neither does trying to WILD after 6 hours of sleep o.O, so you might have to mess around with the time differences and see what suits you best.

Welcome to dreamviews, glad to have you with us!

Just here to say good luck with your Lucid Dream! It is amazing when you have one. (depending on how lucid you are, you can control practically EVERYTHING. Make people/creatures apear, fly, change the landscape etc.)
As a side note, if you don't have lucid dreams right away, don't get descouraged. There are people like me who have only had 5 LD's in a little more than a year, (and it took over 2 months to have my first) then there are those who have multiple LD's a week and had their first on their first try.

Yeah it's great, I soppose you could call it a real life emulator, if you've ever used a video game emulator, if not nevermind .

      Welcome to dreamviews.

      Thanks Insanekid,

WoW I can’t even imagine what a cool experience that must be. Just curious, and this is a question for experienced LD'ers. For the most part are all LD's exiting? Or do u find after having a certain amount of LD its not that fun anymore?

Yeah Zer0Cool, that's very important. LDing is a hard thing to grasp and it may take some time. Nevertheless it is more than worth it. However, you may well be a natural at LDing and have your first one tonight!

      Either way, good luck.

LD's are always exciting (unless they only lasted 5 seconds, which sucks), because there's always something else to do. After all, everything is possible. And even if you do something the same as in your last dream, you can be sure that it will turn out different this time. There's a huge list of things to do in LD's somewhere on these forums, and there is a lucid task of the month game (with separate basic and advanced tasks) too: http://dreamviews.com/community/forumdisplay.php?f=43

April is about to start, and it's going to be a good task.

Also, unless you are a very talented lucid dreamer, you won't get LD's every night so it's always exciting to have another one.
