Well, I asked myself the same question. I answered yes. But once I realized my dream recall wasn't getting any better, I decided to try writing down my dreams in a dream journal. Since doing that, my dream recall has skyrocketed. Writing them down is much more efficient.

      And welcome to DV!

Well for me anyway I can probably manage it but it requires a lot of thinking about it, the most important thing is to analyze your dreams very well, get the feeling down of what it feels like to be in a dream, and all of the effects it has on your feelings and state of mind, they don't have to be point by point things, just remember and take note of the feelings.

Besides if you really dislike to write it down just right places, names, people and things, make sure it's in the right order though, else you will get confused, if it's in the right order chances are the rest will come to mind.

The act of writing helps my dream recall. I think it has something to do with translating your thoughts into a new form. Similar to writing an essay. You know what you want to say, you have the idea of what the essay is going to be about. As soon as you start putting it into words, you realize you need to do some more research.

Everyone is different, so try it both ways. See what works for you. Maybe you want to just do some sketches, or jot down a few notes.

I think it is helpful to keep some sort of written record. When you look back on your journal for inspiration or dream signs, you will be glad you kept it up.

For me, it helps not to write down my dreams sometimes. As long as you think about the dream throughout the day, you do not need to write them down. For a week I did not write down my dreams and a couple of nights ago I had another LD.
