I've come to this community for help in trying to discover any meaning behind several dreams that have been pervasive throughout my life. If I were to take them literally I would be very afraid, so I am wondering if there is an abstract viewpoint that perhaps may be revealed by the more experienced.
The first I believe is common...flying. Many different scenarios, but always with the same limitation - I can only get perhaps 20 feet off the ground. It's not a hover but actual forward motion. I am rarely impeded by speed or obstacles, only elevation. This dream has been pervasive throughout my life, and interestingly enough my father commonly experiences the exact same phenomena.
Second is the ability to flip from a standstill. Backwards or forwards, even side to side. Always again with one minor limitation - I have to be elevated but only by a foot or so (for instance a low ledge). This dream is far more common than the flight dream however it sometimes segues into it.
Third is kinetic ability, being able to move objects with my mind aka Jedi style. This dream is the most common of all and is limited only by my concentration. In the dream I know I am able to do it but I have to concentrate and focus. Sometimes I fail but usually I am able to perform the trick with difficulty. Oddly, once I've failed once or twice in a dream it becomes easier and easier until I can perform it at will, with no limitations.
Now is when things get strange...I've read on here about 'epic' dreams. I've had quite a few, always with me being the center point of some important event surrounded by risk and danger. The odd thing is, these dreams last a week or more...quite literally, they pick up where they left off the night before. This is a phenomena I have NEVER heard about. Perhaps it is a subconscious wish to remain in a dream of self-importance, I don't know. These dreams are always extremely lucid, detailed and seem to be constant in their flow of time and other natural laws. Waking up from these dreams leave me exhausted, and by the time the entire epic has completed a week or so later I am weak to the point of sickness.
It's this last phenomena that has me worried. I've experienced this type of dream on at least three occasions in my life. I won't go into their details here, as that would be a vast undertaking in itself. But the fact that they are literally life-interfering is what has brought me here, seeking understanding.
