      New Guy

Hello all. I found this board, by reading up on a condition that I have called sleep paralysis, and that I could during these episodes have outer body experiences, and lucid dreams. I have always wanted to have lucid dreams, but my recall is not good at all, but hopefully you all can help me along with doing so. Thanks -MANIN207

Welcome to Dreamviews! To begin working on recall, start by keeping a dream journal, and telling yourself every night that you will remember all of your dreams. It works wonders. If you hit sleep paralysis quickly, check some of the WILD tutorials on the site. It sounds like just your method. Here's some:

      Welcome!

I get SP too and have always utilized it to WILD. I'm guessing that WILDing will be easy for you like it is for me

Sleep Paralysis isn't a condition, its something we all experience every night. However, most of us usually aren't conscious enough at the time to remember experiencing it. Even so, it's not unusual to actually feel the effects of Sleep Paralysis regardless.

I say take the advice the others have given, and utilize it to your advantage.

And you, my friend, shouldn't try and offer advice while clearly intoxicated. Especially as a Dream Guide.

None of what you said makes sense, nor do you even know what you're talking about. Clear your head, try again.

Randomly entering sleep paralysis is a symptom of narcolepsy, Exo

He called it a condition so I thought that maybe it was something that he was experiencing in his regular life.

The person above my post, as is usual when hitting "Reply" without using the Quote button.

As well, again, its not unusual. Thats when it happens, thats when its supposed to happen, and it happens to every body. Its only a condition if you don't get Sleep Paralysis at night. Everyone does, and should get, Sleep Paralysis. As said before, its just most of us aren't conscious enough at the time to remember it.

But not everybody is fully awake when it happens, therefore...."condition"....., but that's besides the point

If you can remember any of your dreams at all, you probably won't have problems remembering your lucid dreams. Lucid dreams are usually more exciting than normal dreams, your mind is more active than in normal dreams, and they usually don't happen long before you wake up. These factors make lucid dreams much less forgettable.

As you get better at lucid dreaming and start having longer lucid dreams, it will become harder to remember everything since more is happening, but usually that stage takes a while to get to, long enough that you have plenty of time to improve your recall.

Also, do you have sleep paralysis while falling asleep, or while waking up? If it's while waking up, it might be harder to use that for the WILD technique, but I bet it's still easier than trying to WILD with no predisposition for sleep paralysis.

Then, as repeated for the last time: It. Is. Normal.

Thats when its supposed to happen. Thats when it happens to everyone. It is not unusual to be conscious enough to experience it. It is a normal thing, and its the last time I'm saying it. Get it through your head that there is nothing wrong with you, other than the fact that you seem dedicated to the fact that there is something wrong with you.

I don't know anyone else outside of this forum who is regularly conscious through SP. Except sometimes when I describe it to people they tell me that they've had something similar once or twice.

Current research seems to back up my personal experience:
      http://www.pslgroup.com/dg/f408e.htm

This does not mean that there is anything wrong with us, however experiencing SP consciously does not fit the definition of "normal".

Thank you, and neither was I implying anything to the sorts. Just trying to describe a newbie (myself) nor was I trying to "pee" any one off.

I'm the only one I know face-to-face who has an Afro. Oh dear, I'm an abomination.

The fact of the matter is, Sleep and Dreaming isn't a well known subject. Not in terms of being educated on the topic, or in the fact of amount of people who care. But when you get involved in the subject and learn about it, one of the first things you learn is that something that you think is strange when it comes to this subject, usually isn't.

Before I became interested in Dreaming, I thought it was incredibly unusual that I didn't remember any of my dreams, despite the fact that everyone around me tended to remember theres with crystal clear detail. Everyone I talked to could recite all their Dreams from the night before, while the last one I would be able to remember probably happened weeks to months ago.

When I came to this community a few years ago now, I learnt how wrong I was. I wasn't the only one who had difficulty remembering their subconscious, nightly experiences. In fact, I was so far from it that there were entire sections dedicated to that one fact alone.

The point is, what I thought was completely weird, what I thought meant something was wrong with me, was entirely the opposite and in fact meant more things were right then wrong.

I frankly don't give a shit if you don't like my attitude. I don't wear The Green anymore, so its no longer my job to be a nice guy. But I still know a thing or two about this topic given that it has become the biggest part of my life for the last few years. My job isn't to make you feel welcome, nor is it to even help you. But I chose to. You asked a question and I'm giving you the truthful answer in that its completely normal, no matter how wrong you think that is.

Well for one, I did not ask a question about that. For two your self said 'However, most of us usually aren't conscious enough at the time to remember experiencing it." I said drop it I am over it, why cant you be. I just want to learn about LDing, and meet some people. I am sorry if I hurt your feelings. Do you need a hug?

But clearly it goes over your head. I'm trying to help you by relating to you my own personal experience.

That doesn't make it any more unusual. Most people can remember their dreams. Its not unusual to not be able to however. As is related by the story I told you.
