Start with reality checks and dream signs. Think through your nightmare, besides what scares you, what else is in it? If there are objects in it that you see in real life, start doing reality checks whenever you see that object. This will help you get lucid during your nightmare. Once lucid, you just have to remember that nothing in a dream can hurt you so the nightmare will end.

I'm planning on writing an article about nightmares
I'll try to remember to link it here when I do

Thx I'll try it. I just never had much control over my dreams so this'll probably take a weaks worth of tries. Some of the nightmares though, have parts and pieces of past memories making them even more real and frightening, because a lot of the time I'm just living a memeory in my nightmares. And then I get so caught up in it and the fear is just overwhelming. I've tried to supress the memories but, well they're unstoppable. I've had friends tell me that trying to hold the memories down only makes it worse, so I'm just kinda at a loss. In the meantime I'll try to research about nightmares and try the reality checks like you suggested. Thank you very much...

BTW, I see there's a tutorial in the tutorials section on nightmares
I think it could do with a lot of improvement, but it's worth looking at

Reacurring nightmares are awesome for aspiring lucid dreamers!

Thats how i got my first few. I read up on what lucid dreaming was about, and learnt how to do it. Then when a nightmare came up, i knew instantly it was a dream. I had some great experiences because of it.

However now that i understand much more about sleep and dreaming, i no longer have nightmares, so i have to find other ways to become lucid - Lol :p
