yes. definately keep a dream journal. what good is a lucid dream if you cant remember it? i used it (and still do, sometimes) and got dramatic results... some useful techs are WILD(hard) MILD(easy, but not reliable) NILD(nightmare induced lucid dream, i find this very effective, but it was kinda conditioned) and SHILD(self-hypnosis induced LD, fairly effective), WBTB(wake back to bed, sopposed to be REALLY good, havent tried it) and many more...
