      New, rc checks?

IM really sorry for this post being excessively long.

Im new to this whole lucid dreaming thing, but really want to investigate it.

I started doing RCs last night, and since i had only two previous dream recalls that week, i still dont know my dream signs.

so with this, every time i looked at a clock, which i do very often throughout the day but dont ever remember seeing it in any dreams, i would try to push my right fingers through my left hand, and if they didn't "penetrate" as you might say, i would hold my nose closed and try to breath through it.

So i had two dreams that night, that i actually recalled and wrote down:

1: I was sitting at my kitchen at the table with two friends from school. The left half of the table was layered in Blue play-dough, and the other was green. the windows were missing where there should have been three. the walls were the same color as they were in real life, and the clock was in the same place, but couldnt make out the numbers.
Looking at the clock, i remembered to do a RC, but i couldnt manage to see my hands for some reason. I then Held my nose closed and tried to breathe through it, which worked, so i realized that i was dreaming. This realization only lasted for a few seconds maybe, and i kept trying to keep the thought that i infact WAS dreaming, but it kept wanting to slip away. I then woke up, with no recollection of any part of the dream after that. I would attribute the clock being in the dream from thinking about it so much?

So i would guess i may have ALMOST obtained lucidity?

2: I was sitting in a mcdonalds on the floor, on top of some newspapers, with 2 of my friends, and a new kid, all from school, but not the same ones as the first dream. The mcdonalds had no chairs or tables, just a trashcan behind me, and the counter. I was eating french fries off the floor, which i NEVER eat any food off the floor. I then saw one that had a black spot on it, and woke up.
I didnt see a clock during the dream, and did no RCs

After this last one, i had a harder time falling back asleep, and actually wrote down both dreams at that time.

I woke up after the first and looked at my bedside clock; i had fallen asleep around 10:30pm and it was 2:30am, read it a few times and it didnt change, and did the RCs, and they passed, so i was actually awake.

I woke up after the second, and it was 3:20, and RCs still passed.

I've read another post, by Shifty i believe, that said to print out your dream signs and do RCs when you see them. Should i be doing RC's whenever im in a place OTHER than my home?

And also, can dream signs only be appearing at a certain time in your life, then change at a later date?

Congratulations! I'd say that counts as a lucid dream. Even though it didn't last long, it's still a big step toward having more lucid dreams.

You should do RCs as often as possible, both in your home and at other places regardless. It seems to me like not being in your house would be a difficult dream sign to keep up with. If you get into the habit of RCing throughout the day, especially when something seems strange, chances are you'll also RC in your dreams.

I'm pretty sure it's possible for your dream signs to change at different points in your life. When it comes to dreaming, most things are.

It will take a month of good recall, at least, to become reliable at recognizing your own dream signs. You will recognize dream signs after as little as a week, but it will take a while before you get a feel for which dream signs are most useful.

Dream signs can change, too. You can dream about the same thing for an entire week, and then not again for months (such as a string of dreams I had about theater). That doesn't mean they aren't useful. I find temporary dream signs to be very strong tools to use for lucidity.

Regarding the clock... I don't like this method of checking reality. It's very narrow. Look everywhere for odd occurrences, not just at clocks!

      Have patience.
