Hypnagogic Imagery is the brief fleeting images you see as you fall asleep. Not everyone sees them, but they are common when you pay attention, such as during a WILD. They can be anything from fleeting geometric patterns and lights, to brief flashes of dream images. They often lead into fragmentary dreamlets. If you've never experienced it, try paying close attention to your vision next time you go to sleep.

Check out the acronym list if any more of these questions come up. They also have a description with them.
      Bollocks.

Hi is basically the same as the symptoms of schizophrenia. Schizophrenics just have HI during the day as well, instead of just when you're falling asleep.

True, but everyone has it before they fall asleep

It's your brain preparing to sleep and dream. It's your eyes, ears, and other senses separating from your body and the brain doesn't know how to analyze that so it shows up as randomness.
