      External Sound -> Lucidity

      Hey, I haven't been around these forums very much but I was excited by a lucid dream I had today. I get a lucid dream every few months or so. So I was really tired from studying and decided to take a nap. It was 7:30PM when I climbed into bed. I'm in a dorm so I could hear my other roommates watching TV and shouting about the basketball game in the next room over.

      I had a false awakening; I dreamed I woke up in one of my roommates beds instead. I was really confused because I remembered falling asleep in my own bed. Then I heard shouting from my roomates (in real life) who were still watching the basketball game, so I realized I must have been dreaming. I was excited but kept calm, and even though I could still hear my roomates shouting in real life I was still dreaming. I walked around in the dream world for a short while, then woke up at around 8:10PM.

      I've never had anything like this happen before, having an external sound make me achieve lucidity.

      Edit: Sorry this might have been better placed in the Lucid Experiences section.

      Well, it's good if you can get lucid from external sounds. They always just wake me up

      I've just had one of these recently: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...12&postcount=9

      Pity, I only got to enjoy a few microseconds of lucidity, owing to the fact that external sounds have a habit of waking me up. (And yet I sleep through thunderstorms.)

      Oh thanks, never knew about EILD. Normally I'm a light sleeper but I fell asleep with the sounds in the background so I guess I was tired enough so they wouldn't wake me. It was weird, I had this dual consciousness, of being in a dream and yet knowing I was dreaming because I was heaing my roommates shouting.
