      I can't remember my dreams that much. help?

      Hi,

      I remember my dreams around once up to three times a week, but only have a lucid dream once a month or less. The thing with my dreams I never really seem to be in them they always seem to just be a memory, also i can never really remember them fully just tinny parts of them, they seem to be vague like cloudy, dreamy. I want to know the whole dream, anyone have any tips?

      First of all, welcome to DV!

      One of the major ways you can improve your recall is to keep a dream journal. Write down as many details from the dream as you can remember upon awakening, or else you'll forget it later. WBTBing (waking up 4-6 hours after you go to sleep) can also help. But it's really important that you write the dreams down, or keep a record of them in some way.

      I hate the thought of keeping a DJ. If you can't keep a notebook for some odd reason then you can use this forum. There two areas, one to have your DJ private and the other to show it off. You are free to choose either one or even both if you want to.

      Even though I hate the thought of keeping one, it kinda grew with me and became a naturally thing that I do everyday. You can't believe how much your recall will increase when you keep one and start writing everything down. I thought I don't even dream and now I can remember up to two dreams per night. Write in it even if you don't dream. Write your goals when you become lucid or write what you ate and what time you gone to sleep. Even writing "I don't recall anything" is better then nothing. At least you will be looking at your dream journal and have your mind more focus into it.
      Noticed things in my lucid dreams: Not scare of death (kinda forgotten Freddy special power of killing in dreams, opps?) Huge ego which cause me to summon monsters, most DC are useless and don't even speak.

      Keeping a Dream Journal is the best way, as everyone has already said. I think it must be something about translating your memories into words, and giving them the additional attention. If you don't do it already, try for a week or two. I think you will be amazed at how much more vivid your dreams become.

      Thanks Guys I will try that, but how does a dream journal help me remember dreams that I will have tonight? Don't they only help for past dreams?

      The way I see it, when you write in your DJ you will force your waking mind to think about your dreaming minds experiences. It kind of... solidifies the memory thus improving your dream recall. And when you improve your dream recall, it helps with your dream-waking recall. (Meaning, when you are asleep how well can you use your conciouss mind.)

      Maybe you gain 1 dream recall xp every time you record a dream, so you get better at remembering the next, (future,) dream that you have!

      I like to think of it as a bridge that goes both ways. This is all conjecture of course, and just helps me in visualizing dream recall, but there is my little theory on how DJs help the whole spectrum of lucid dreaming . Take it or leave it!
