Sigh...my second SHORT lucid dream but...

Ok I've been trying to meet a certain elf character that I want (I'll refer to the dream character I want to meet as the elf).

Oh, and I was using a sleep mask too.

      First LD:

I detected a false awakening at my house by doing a reality check on my handphone's screen on the table. I then knew I was lucid dreaming and then decided to search for the elf in one of the bedrooms in my house. She was not there. I tried searching for her in the entrance of my house but she was not there. But two female visitors whom I don't know of came in carrying a plastic bag and when they put it in my house, the dream ended.

      Second LD:

Same start as the first LD. But after I realized I was lucid dreaming, I tried a different strategy to meet the elf. I used my handphone to call her to come (instead of keying her number I keyed in her name). I heard an unclear reply (sounded like a male :/ ). I tried searching for her in one of my bedrooms but instead one of my cousins was there). I then tried searching for her somewhere else in the house but along a corridor, the scene started turning black!!! I spinned and spinned, rubbed and rubbed my hands, but the scene did not become brighter again. Then I appeared in some weird Japanese-style room and the dream ended!!! Argh.

Question: What tactic/strategy should I use to meet the dream character I want? One strategy in my mind is to call her but ask her WHERE I can find her. Will that work? Or are there other strategies which are better than this? And should I wear or not wear the sleeping mask?

to find a DC in a lucid dream close your eyes and give yourself a reason why that person would be at your house/flat etc.
      e.g

the elf should be in the kitchen because i asked it to make me a sandwich.

remember that your subconcious is king in your dreams.

      good luck

Don't know about the closing your eyes part. To me that's just unnecessarily risking waking up.

Why would you call her to ask her? Seems like you're taking unnecessary steps, here.

Dream control doesn't always go the way you'd like. You must be adaptable. Don't waste time on a method if it doesn't work the first time. With that in mind, try:

      -Opening doors
-Expecting her to be at the entrance (act as if you had already made plans)
-Pulling her out of a mirror/portal
      -Teleporting to wherever she is
-Putting your hand over your eyes, remove it expecting her to be there.
-Assuming she is right next to you, but invisible. Say magic words to make her visible.

I never had a LD but the way i see most people doing it is to turn around then turn back and imagine the DC behinde you then turn around and they are there.h

-Opening doors <-did that, but no one or someone else was in the room.

-Expecting her to be at the entrance (act as if you had already made plans) <-searched for her at the entrance and was not there but this time I'm really going to act as if I had made plans. I wrote my plans on paper when I'm awake. I'll keep them in my mind when I sleep.

-Pulling her out of a mirror/portal <-- I think the other methods you mention seem to be easier than this but thanks for the tip though.

-Teleporting to wherever she is <-- same as previous point.

-Putting your hand over your eyes, remove it expecting her to be there. <--I'll try this too.

-Assuming she is right next to you, but invisible. Say magic words to make her visible. <-- Maybe I'll say "Show yourself to me, elf."

      Thank you for the strategies.

Also, keep in mind that just because it didn't work in a previous lucid, doesn't mean it won't work in your next one (just don't get hung up on using one technique the entire dream).

      Good luck~

Why close your eyes when you can imagine them behind you?

DreamQueen, do you mean that maybe if the elf was in the bag, she will come out in a bigger size than she was in the bag? The bag was actually quite small...

You didn't really specify anything regarding how hard you were trying to get this elf character to appear, but frequently if you are inexperienced with lucid dreaming and try too hard to control a dream, the dream simply misbehaves and/or starts to dissolve before your eyes!

I've lost countless of potentially excellent lucid dreams by suddenly deciding that I want something to happen and trying to use sheer will-power to make it so.

That said, there is a lot of great advice in this thread. I'd suggest trying to go for a more passive route. Next time you are lucid, just resist the urge to immediately go elf-hunting, go with the flow of the dream BUT if you happen to engage in a conversation with a dream character, ask them nicely if they know where the elf is.
