Greetings! I'm a newbie, as you might be able to tell from the topic. I've been able to lucid dream since I was a kid, on an off. Actually, the hardest part for me is telling whether I'm dreaming or not, I always have full control over everything.

Of course, I'm a writer, and like all crazy writers, I try to make the dream happen as to what would make the best story. For a long time, I thought that this was just me having a really vivid imagination right after I woke up, but then one day I was woken up while doing this, and I realized that I had actually been asleep the entire time. It was a few years before I found the term 'lucid dreaming,' but I always enjoyed it and wished I could do it more often.

Like I stated before, I control everything in my dreams. I usually lucid dream while having a dream with a clear plot, then realize halfway through that the reins are in my hands and I can change anything that hasn't already been established. It's like someone gave you half a movie script and told you to write the rest, but not to change their part. The one time I did try to go back and change things, I woke up immediately.

Anyways, in one dream, one particular "character" got away from me. In the middle of a car chase scene, my friend (who is a real person) insisted on slowing us down to help a policeman who had gotten shot. He was promptly introduced as another "character" that I had control over, but I had lost my control over that friend.

Ironically, when I told her about that in real life, she was pleased but admitted that she would probably not do that.

Does this ever happen to anyone else? I hear of people having control only over themselves, or people having control over everything, but never of "everything, except that one insane character who does whatever she wants."
