      Smile hi everyone

i found this site while surfing the net and loved it. i've been trying to control my dreams for a long time and this morning after a unintentional reality check i manage to move to a lucid dream for a few minutes. i haven't dreamed like that in years and would like it to continue. so i though i would join this site as a member and participate more.

Congrats on your lucid dream! If you have any questions about getting around the website or about dreaming in general, just ask and I'll be happy to help out.

It can be a little confusing getting a handle on lucid dreaming versus dream control and all the acronyms. Dream control and lucid dreaming are related, but you can have control without being lucid and vice versa. Sometimes the harder types of dream control take a little practice in your lucids. If you want to read more, I wrote an overview of lucid dreaming, dreaming and dream control here:

      http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=61802

I also think that Billybob's overview of all lucid dreaming methods is a great quick way to become familiar with all the little acronyms and techniques DVers talk about, in case you haven't run into all the meanings while being on the net yet:

      http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=51214

Be sure to check out our dream journal section. You can start keeping a dream journal here, where other members can read and comment. It's really fun!

is there a program that you can use to start playing music and lucid induction mp3s at a certain time? like i go to bed with my headphones on and 3 or 4 hours later it plays whatever i set it to play? possibly more then once.

Okay, total n00b here, but I tend to lucid dream a lot and I think it may be because of these two things:

      1) I'm very nostalgic, so retro things are on my mind a lot.

      2) I talk about dreams to friends and family a lot.

Since these are constants in my routine, my dreams tend to reflect that. The nostalgic stuff that pops into my dreams may cause luciditiy, and talking about dreams a lot has me thinking about dreams in the dream itself. I think these two things make me realize I'm dreaming often.
