      Hypothetically...

In theory, your dreams are changed by the amount of attention focused on particular aspects and entities of the dream.

If you could get yourself into an area of pure white - and then bring in a DC you may want to 'interact with' , or an object, would it be possible to not focus on the surroundings as much since they are nonexistant?

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Secondly:

The world we live in is governed by a set of rules, eg. gravity, our minds workings, physical limitations etc.

Would it be possible to create a set of rules that our minds associate with the dream world, that we could force ourselves to learn, and operate under every time we have an LD, and partially in RL, in order to create a permenant stable dream world.

Once the normal dream incorparates these rules, when we enter an LD, we would have to spend less time stabilising everything, and more time experienceing the dream.

First off, this doesn't really belong in the newbie section... but oh well.

Your first question, I don't understand what you are asking.

Your second question, well how stable a dream is has nothing to do with the environment you make in your dream world.
Besides, it really doesn't take that long to stabilize a dream.

yeah, it's in the 'newbie' section because I am a newbie, and it was a question as to whether it would work or not.

      1. I read that if you focus on a particular aspect of the dream too much, or not enough, the dream gets unbalanced. What I was saying was that if you had no surroundings - ie, all that could be seen was pure white i every direction, a bit like in parts of the matrix when morphius is talking to neo.

Would that not eliminate the problem, and enable you to focus on the more important aspect of the dream.

      2. Ok, it was more of a 'would it be possible to...' question. Just bouncing ideas around.

The first question is best answered by trying and finding out, then sharing the results.

To the second, it is probably possible, but incredibly difficult. Dream are, by nature, unstable. The firing of random electric charges in the brain, the very framework of sleep, is part of the reason and I doubt it is possible to change.

      Thnx ExoByte.
I'll try it out tonight, but there is obviously very little chance I will get a lucid, so it may take a while.

Any personal experiences showed up useful strategies for becoming lucid - that you wouldn't mind sharing?

For a beginner, always do it by the book. The time for experimenting will come. But as long as you're new and trying to get into Lucid Dreaming, follow the basic 'rules.'

      Dream Journal
      Check for Dream Signs
      Reality Check constantly

If you're bold, try a WBTB and WILD.

I find DILD's very hard to do. I got a partial VILD/WILD on my first proper attempt (last night) using an exerimental idea, but I am uncertain that it will work again so I will try it again tonight, and then go by the book.

I once literally walked into a lucid that was "an area of pure white" and there were houses made of algae floating in it and, no, it didn't seem any different than seeing things against a "background".
