      Smile Any tips?

Way to state the obvious, i know. But I'm new to this whole thing, both the forums and Lucid Dreaming in general.

As far as i know I've only had one LD which was about a week ago, although it may have just been a dream that i had an LD.. I also started a dream journal last week and my recall has already gone from 1 dream a night to 3 or 4, which has made me super excited.

A few night's ago I tried a WILD.. I got to the weird numb floating feeling.. but then i swallowed and it went away.. so i decided to roll over and just go to sleep. I also have serious problems remembering to RC during the day.

I've read up on the tutorials and i was wondering if anyone had any additional tips to give on any aspects of LDs and/or recall.

Hi, and welcome to Dream Views!

For recall, I would really recommend that you keep on that journal, which it looks as though you're doing a marvelous job of already. I would also suggest holding perfectly still when you first wake up and try to remember as much of your dreams as you can before you move. When you think you've remembered as much as you're going to, write down your dreams immediately. You may also wish to try a memory mantra (I WILL remember my dreams). Just repeat it silently to yourself before going to sleep.

If you're looking to LD in the long run and would prefer to not get up each night and WILD, I would stick to MILD or DILD. They actually get easier to do as you progress, and can give you multiple lucids per night. Really, though, it all comes down to finding the method that suits you best.

      Good luck!

This has been discussed on the forum a lot and has had the biggest impact on my dreaming. When you RC during the day, imagine that you are dreaming and expect that result from the RC. It has made me more aware during waking life, making sure that you I am indeed awake. Sounds weird but it makes a huge difference. Now, my RC''s are just confirmations because I know that I am in a dream, since I am more aware.

Also, try to WBTB as many nights that you can. I have nearly all of my LD's near the end of my sleep. Even if your wake time in between is really short, it will make a difference. Recording a dream or two is best because it puts your mind on the subject.

Honestly, I don't do a lot of RCing. I prefer the MILD method, instead. But, that' just me.

RCing in and of itself is not too terribly important. What you're aiming to do is boost your awareness in day-to-day life. RCing is oftentimes used not to become lucid, but to merely confirm lucidity. In general, an RC is useless on its own if you don't have awareness to back it up. It is, however, an excellent tool, and I would keep with it.

In order to remember to RC, I've left sticky notes on all sorts of things, people have written letters on their hands/arms, some people set their watch alarms to chime every so often, etc.

Haha, yes, it is. The problem with trying to WILD before you go to sleep is that you're not anywhere close to a REM period, which is where most of the dreaming tends to take place. To WILD effectively, you should get about 4-6 hours of sleep before you make an attempt. See the WBTB method. It should be noted, however, than some results can be achieved through a WILD attempt before bed. SP can be attained, and some HH may be experienced. Any dreams you have, however (if you have them at all), will most likely be of poor quality. In general, a WILD without the WBTB can be good for meditative purposes, but not so much for lucid dreaming purposes.
