Awfully new, and awfully lazy - Hello!

Hi, stumbled upon this site yesterday, and lucid dreaming seems very interesting - Naturally, I want to try it out

So, what's step one? Em I supposed to make reality checking a habit, so that I might do it while asleep, and thus realising that it's not normal with voices and light coming from under the sofa?
And how should I practise my ability to recall dreams? I pieced together as much as I could from the dreams I had this morning and wrote it down, as detailed as possible - The beginning of a dream journal.

      Good so far?

I would really appreciate tips and tricks from you more experienced people, since, well... The things I've read on this site just seems awesome.

Oh, and how real does a lucid dream feel, when you're "having it at max"? I guess it varies depending on how skilled you are, but is it practically like when you're awake, minus the omnipotency and of course diminished senses? Can you think rational? Or is that what we're supposed to strive for?
It's nothing but a fantasy created by you, after all.

Welcome to DV FiskMunk! I'd suggest that you check out the tutorial section of the site, and see how many of your questions that answers. I'd also suggest that you just go to dreamviews.com (our homepage). It's great that you've started a dream journal. That will make things so much easier for you in the long run.

In answer to your question of "how does it feel?" I'd have to say that it varies from person to person, and how developed their sense of dream realism is. You can actually have dreams with a...better developed sense of realism. You can see, hear, touch, taste and smell (although the last two are quite a bit more difficult for me) in a dream with as much realism as in waking life, or arguably more. However, this takes some work, as does Lucid Dreaming in general.

Do I have any more advice?... nope, not for now! If you have any more questions, just post them, and we'll try to get to them as soon as possible. Again, Welcome!
      ...And then to dream...

I guess, since everything we percept in the end just are combinations of impulses in our minds.

But what's the sensation like for some of you people? Obviously there are no dientical answers, so it would be nice to just hear about the overall feeling each and every individual here gets Did you find it scary the first time? Exciting?

And I'll have a look at the tutorials, thanks
      Wait, what?

I think the simplest, laziest way is just to go to bed on the affirmation, "I'll lucid dream tonight". May work the first night or take much longer.

And of course, some lucky folk start having LDs just by reading about them.

A good lucid dream is an incredible feeling. It can feel more real than real life.
