      New to forums ^^

      hey guys!
      I've been lurking on this forum for couple of weeks now generally reading tutorials and trying reeeeeeaaaaaaally hard to have a lucid dream (I've come really close too..) and I am really interested by it all. I read about it and thought I should give it a go - I'm clinically depressed and feel that this could be useful in learning more about myself.
      I have a couple of questions though:
      Will my medication have any effect on the success rate of lucid dreams? I'm taking SSRI's and not been able to find anything on this, hoping someone here just might now ^^
      Annnd how often do i do reality checks?

      btw this is first time I've ever used a forum.. be nice

      thanks!

      Hi, welcome to Dreamviews!
      Instead of doing 'routine' reality checks every once in a while, begin to question whether you are dreaming or not, and begin to develop that mindset. Look at everything and see if objects look distorted, and question yourself as to how you got to that particular location. It's better IMO to do this and not too many RCs, because if you become too unaware of your reality checks, you'll do them in your dreams without anything happening/noticing them. Most people I've spoken with seem to become lucid through simple awareness, and use reality checks to back their lucidity up (myself included) and keep themself grounded in the dream.

      I only do a reality check every hour or so. If you scare easily, I suggest not counting your fingers, because in dreams it's wierd and a bit unsettling to see six or seven fingers on your hands. ^^;

      Unforunately I can't help with the SSRI part, but good luck!
      We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
      some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

      Wikipedia says SSRIs can cause extremely vivid and strange dreams. If you have this side effect, they may actually improve your luck at lucid dreaming. Strangeness will make it easier to recognize your dreams, and vividness will improve any lucid dreams that result. If not, at the very least they probably won't hurt.

      Well I've noticed my dreams are extremely weird and random so that sounds right.. I don't seem to notice though, as weird as it gets I always just get on with it as though its completely normal
      I'm hoping I'll get there eventually ^^
