It probably was the beginning of a lucid dream, you were aware that it was a dream, but you lost control. Maybe because you got excited. I also kind off had something like this. I was standing in a room and I was looking at a book, then I saw two people standing in front of me, I don't know why, but I suddenly knew that it was a dream, I got excited though and lost control. It was very short, but I was aware of me dreaming, so I think it was the same with you.

Were you ever actually aware that you were dreaming? If you were, you were lucid.

Although I'm not certain about this, it sounds like what you had might have been a vivid experience of false awakening. As far I know these types of dreams often tend to evoke lucidity sometimes.

False Awakening: Dreaming that one wakes up

As far as I know, he never "woke up" in his dream, therefore not a FA.

I admittedly stand corrected. I guess I didn't read the post as thoroughly as I should have.

Yes. That was the beginning of a lucid dream. A lucid dream is simply a dream "in which you know you are dreaming." By the end of that dream, you knew you were dreaming, and that, then, is a lucid dream.

To know that youre dreaming in a dream isnt a LD i guess. A start maybe. I only have had 2 LDs but in them i "woke up in my head" and i was "in the dream fully awake" if you know what i mean. Have had dreams before where i knew i was dreaming but the dream was normal, like kinda dreaming that you know you are dreaming. lol difficult to describe perhaps.
When i go "wow, im inside a dream" then im lucid
If you are in a state as you are now, but in a dream.

Try doing DEILD's, it might take time to learn how to lay still, but I don't think you lose sleep. There's a info about it on the tutorial section. If that doens't work I would really try to do RC's, they're the basis for a lot of techniques. At tutorials are many techniques so there might be one that suits you.
