      Hello

I've been lurking about here for several weeks and have been reading along with several helpful posts. Rather than 'eavesdropping' I'd like to get more involved with the discussions here, because it seems that if I continuously think about lucid dreaming it is more likely to happen, and it seems like there are some very helpful and experienced people on this board.

I'm a bit confused about one topic: is WILD the same as astral traveling? From what I've gathered in my reading here it seems that this might be unknown and maybe even controversial.

I have had lucid dreams for some time without using any induction techniques. However, this happens rarely, so I am trying to use induction methods.

One of my best lucid dreams happened when I realized I was dreaming and starting to fly up and down. I have had several experiences with feeling as though I am leaving my body and I view my bedroom from outside my body, although my vision is always blurred or distorted in some way. I haven't been able to get out of my bedroom and I usually end up waking up or back in my body in a very short amount of time. I'm trying to stay calm and have a plan, so I don't mess it up.

Another question: Has anyone visited a family member that has passed on with any of these methods?

      Anyway, hello :-)

      My, no replies yet?

      to Dream Views!

I'm not all that into astral-projection and all that, so I can't really help you there. Lucid dreaming in general, though, is fantastic for doing all sorts of stuff you can't do in real life, like visiting deceased family members. You may wish to read up on some of the tutorials.

So, sorry I can't help with the AP. Hopefully someone else will be able to. Welcome to the community!

To the best of my knowledge, WILD and astral projection are different, but a few people here have achieved out of body experiences (OBE's) while they were trying to WILD. I guess it pretty much starts out the same way.

Essentially, all WILD means is falling asleep consciously As your body falls asleep, you keep your mind aware (usually by counting breathing or something similar). You start to experience sleep paralysis and hallucinations. This part gets scary for some people, you just have to remember it won't hurt you.

Lastly, you just get to this point where you can start to build a dream up around you, stablize and voila, you're in! This part I can't explain, because I generally fail right here

Have a look at the WILD tutorial, and there's also an entire section of the forums dedicated to it, as well

      Good luck!

"There's nothing better than knowing what it's like to fly like superman. Being fully aware of the air whipping by you, controlling every movement of every single atom in your body with a single thought. It's real freedom, and there's not a word good enough to describe it, so I'll just call it dreamy for now."

My first dream that I remembered since visiting here was seeing my Dad who passed away. I felt as if I was in a reunion with my Dad. I became lucid at the end and woke up.

Thank you all for the info and welcome!

I'm glad that astral travel is different than WILD. I was kind of disappointed to think that leaving my body was all a dream, because I really don't think I fell asleep before this happen. It's different. I need to figure out how to make the experience last longer! I'll check out the tutorials, thanks for the links!

Dragon wolf: My dad passed away recently. I want to see and talk with him so badly, although I am nervous about seeing him, not knowing what to expect. Did you see your dad in your dream by chance or did you try to do it somehow?
