On Average, how long could I get a lucid dream by reality checking?

Title says it all. If I started reality checking, twice on the hour, how long would it take on average for me to become lucid in a dream?

Also, could you give me the proper way on how to reality check? Like, what exactly should I ask myself, etc.

The short answer is, everyone is different. Some people can have a lot of lucids of great length and quality just by doing RCs or some other simple technique. Other people need to work at several techniques and be very consistent with them for a long time in order to get longer lucid dreams.

When you RC, you are relying on probability--you are making a gamble that you will RC at the beginning of your dream, when you have just as much chance of RCing at the middle or end or anything in between. The best bet is to RC every time you wake up and hope for some fales awakenings. That way you would have a long lucid. To strengthen this, you can use a little autosuggestion and/or visualization before bed by telling yourself or imagining yourself waking up in a dream. Remember to always RC first, even when you are just imagining it.
