      Newbie Questions:

So after having my first LD I am quite curious as to how some other people's experiences are. I've been lurking quite a bit, and haven't stumbled across these-

-People on here typically say that there LDs last about 10-20 minutes. Does the amount of time increase throughout experience.? Are there 3-4 year posters on here who can LD longer like an hour.?

-Does your recall improve with each LD.?

-Normally how long do your dreams last before you start LDing.? If it takes you awhile to perform a reality check, or realize your dreaming, do you discover that you LD a lot less longer.?

It depends on the dream. Some of them only last a few minutes, while others are much longer. For the longer ones, it's hard to say how long they are in actual time. They may feel like they last hours, yet in reality you may have only been asleep for about half an hour. This is a good example.

-Does your recall improve with each LD.?
My recall seems to fluctuate randomly. Some nights I have amazing recall, while other nights I barely remember anything.

Again, it depends. Sometimes I catch dream signs right away, but other times I'm a bit more dense. I've never really noticed a correlation between how early I become lucid and how long the LD lasts.

      1. Theoretically , The more you practice dream control the better you'll be at performing tasks, and I think stabilizing an LD is one of them. Sort of like the more you run, you tend to be able to run for longer without getting tired with that said, it's all about the technique; in terms of dreaming and running.

      2. I've only hand about 10 LD's or so. I would say no.

      3. It's really hard to say because I haven't had LD's in over 7 months with the exception of maybe 3, 2 which were WILD but lost consciousness. The one I did have felt like it took maybe 25 mins. before I realized I was dreaming. It was like a WBTB, I went back to bed and and sort of thought i was just day dreaming, but then I guess later it turned into a dream, after a little bit I realized I was dreaming. This is just one example though.

I always thought of Rem sleep like a "health bar" where the more you dream (lucid or not it doesn't matter), your health bar slowly decreases until no more "health" is left. I got this because from that dream i described, I woke up and did not move but I didn't feel any SP or that I was getting back in the dream. I figured my " Rem Sleep bar" had drained

      Good answers. :]

I like your comparison to dreaming as a health bar. Ever since deciding to read up on dreams, and joining this forum I have felt the same way.
