      I cant Transition!...I think

hey there! my first post. I have been having some frustrating issues falling sleep.

It goes down like this, im not sure what this is called, or if its a technique but its what works (or I think works)

I lay down in a comfortable position, and i start counting my breaths all the way to 100 and then back.
During this phase, normally my entire body will get heavier, then slightly numb, then almost completely numb. after this point I continue to lie there, but I dont count anymore if im very heavy feeling and numb feeling. After a little bit of concentrating on absolutely nothing, (my eyes are closed the entire time by the way). I start seeing colors, or My limbs get small shaking sessions. They dont just twitch its like a shiver, but a small 2 second shiver. Also, it feels like I start spinning, or at least, my vision with my eyes closed makes me feel like im spinning, but its not dizzying.

normally I get stuck here in this phase. I can hear my heartbeat, I can hear my brother snoring across the room, I hear someone cough down the hall, etc. If i open my eyes, I have slight visual hallucinations sometimes, as if the entire room is extremely far away.
Although my body feels heavy, and It makes me feel like I cant move it, if i just put all focus on my hand and lift it, I can move. So Im not sure if this is SP or not because with a small amount of focus im able to start moving again.

My problem is I don't know what phase this is, or how far away a dream is. often times I just get stuck here and Im just laying, feeling the room spin gently, and a deep pulling on my body as if gravity has shifted its direction. After this theres really nothing. I lay here for a long time doing nothing. Its difficult to concentrate on trying to sleep because my mind is so restless. eventually I get extremely frustrated. For some reason this is a lot more difficult that it seems to me. my mind goes off track and it makes me frustrated more than I really want it to. Like, overly frustrated, to the point where its not even in my personality to become that frustrated that easily.

And then I just give up because its to hard to concentrate on falling asleep, and not concentrate at the same time. so I just roll over and try to sleep. Oddly enough after this phase its very hard to go back to sleep. I end up rolling around and even attempting this same technique once or twice throughout this time before I actually fall asleep. Every time so far when I do this, I fail, and I roll over and continue to fail, until I fall asleep without realizing that I fell asleep.

If its too long, condensed version here: I count to get my body to sleep. When the entire body is numb, I wait and concentrate on nothing. Soon, the room spins, but with my eyes closed. Its very gentle and not sickning. I also feel gravity tugging me in a different direction, like pulling me to the bottom of my bed, or the left of it. I get stuck here, and dont know how to go to sleep.

What phase am I getting stuck on?! how do I overcome it?
