Well, if I were you, I wouldn't go for 8 hours.
4.5 hours to 6 hours would do.
But anyways. Yea, if WILD is the way you want to go, then DEILD might be the one for you, if you find that you can't stay awake.
Basically, when you wake up, just stay super still, don't move any muscles (Try not to move your eyes either), then drift back into the dream, except remain conscious.
A good way to remain conscious is to keep saying in your mind "This is a dream, this is a dream, this is a dream, ...", then by the time you are in the dream, you will still be saying that to yourself.
