New to this - Trying to Figure Out How to Lucid Dream

      Hey guys!

I just had a few quick questions about this whole subject of lucid dreaming.

This whole idea is pretty new to me, only about a week, and I've extensively looked into this site and others related to it to find out all about LD.

The only problem is, I can't seem to induce an LD. I have regular/normal dreams pretty much every night, it's just, I can't seem to turn those dreams into lucid ones.

And yes, I've read all about inducing them on the forum section about it here on this site, but none of them seem to work for me.

So my question is: What am I doing wrong?

If I could have some help, that would be amazing. If you guys have any special ways that you use to induce them, or strategies/techniques, etc.

      Thanks all!
      That's what she said.

Time. Everyone needs time to get in the mod. Let yourself get adapted with the idea, write your dreams in your DreamJournal. Try the DILD technique, IMO is the best for beginners.

I see a lot of people with only a week of knowing about lucid dreaming desperate becouse didn't have one LD yet. It takes time like everything else.

I think a week is not long enough to conclude that you're doing anything wrong. Patience is a virtue. I'm on week six and still no lucids, but have made progress in terms of my knowledge of how the techniques are supposed to work and why and in terms of dreams about dream related topics (which seem to be a fairly common first step.)

Edit: I just noticed that someone made a poll in the General Lucid Discussion forum, which will probably be a good one to keep an eye on the results of.

How long have you been trying? For starters it's a good idea to work strictly on recall, which means whipping out the old pen and paper and keeping it by your bedside to write down key events that occur in every dream. You want to remember the dream in some length after waking up from each one, and recording them helps you do that. Get into that habit and you'll likely find inducing lucidity will be easier for you. Half of the work involves keeping your mind on the topic of dreams, which is why just saying out loud (before falling asleep) that you'll have a lucid dream is an effective aid.

      Just have patience!
It took me a while before I had any lucid dreams and I still have only had a few. It takes time and practice. You're already remembering your dreams every night, so you're on the right track. Just keep at it!

I diligently keep a dream journal by my bedside. Every time I wake up, I write down, in detail, what all happened in my dreams, and sometimes I have more than one per night, sometimes 2 or 3 or more. But I write them all down.

Also, is there any good ways to turn the dream that your are currently dreaming into a lucid dream? I have plenty of regular dreams each night, I just can't find out how to actually realize that I am dreaming.

Hah, I guess I'll have to just deal with the fact that it's going to take some time before I can get into the rhythm of having LD's. But as I try, any help from you all would be greatly appreciated.

There is no magic formule, you need time to pratice. You are doing what you can: focusing in recall and writing your dreams.
A tip is, if you don't want to write in details your dream, just note a few keywords in the paper, and later, if you have one, write the entire dream on your digital dj.

You are focusing on this have only one week - by myself I needed one year of practice to get a nice LD (and I have only 9 of them), but people are diferent, you can have one today or later on.

Try techniques as DILD. Are you RCing during the day ? That's how most of the beginners get their first LD, that's how it was for me.
