I had kind of given up on this one, but the repeal is a done deal. It will be some time before it goes into effect, but +1 for human rights. |

If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

The military is only 40 years late. They aren't the brightest group you know. |

Because normal people are far intellectually superior and the dumb need something to compensate with. |

Ah, like a man with a small penis who drives a large, fast car. Gotcha. |

To advance my career! |

You're right, it is unnatural. But if you're gay, you're gay. Not much can be done. I personally am not into it. But I have openly gay friends, and I respect them. |

How is it unnatural? They are born that way so it must be natural. |

My bad |

Oh and also gays who aren't really gay, but they act like they are and say that they are anyway for attention. That's just annoying. |

Silly buggers, with yer broken sarcasm detectors. |

Wonder how much it's going to cost the tax payers to build all those segregated barracks for the military's new addition. |
|
Wonder how many conservative alarmists will admit they were wrong when our service members just suck it up (NPI) and deal? Homosexuals are not a "new addition" to the military; they've been there all along, and asking and telling aside, in many cases their squad members knew and didn't give a damn. The change is that they're no longer at risk of summary dismissal--for instance, six months before retirement after a 30 year career--for reasons unrelated to their performance or conduct. |

The whole point of the Don't ask don't Tell policy is to accommodate both parties, slick. Seems to me someone needs to.... |
|
The point of DADT was to make as much progress as was feasible at the time, in a military still struggling with integrating women into the force, and in which the prior policy was to ask every recruit if they were gay. The point of the repeal is identical, but the military and society are ready for greater progress. |

The US will now join the ranks of historically liberal countries such as Russia, Israel and South Africa; well done. |
