      I wrote a poem

So i wrote this poem today thought i would share and see what everyone honestly thinks. I kind of want to know if you can follow it and understand the story I'm telling as well as the aesthetics of the words and how they flow.

The beginning sounds like a zombie...it's not a zombie poem but that would be epic.

I am hungry, but I am not human,

      Forever in search for sustenance,

The tips of my eyes dig in as my fingers sift through hair,

I massage the skin with an inquiring voice revealing a leather bound doorway into a labyrinth of words and emotions,

I ask what, turning the page to a corridor to my left

I ask why, closing the door behind me solidifying my fate before me,

I begin with nothing but the rhythmic assurance of my own drummer boy nestled inside me as if the constant patter will drive off the fear that resides in the endless dark hall ahead

There are words like sublime, exuberance, contentment, adoration,

There are words like love and a path opens that is surely meant for me,

I follow in a veil of contentment

Thumbing through the pages I dive deeper, pace quickening, mind loosening,

Chapters flow without my knowing, but I need one more before bed,

I reach for 215 and find a frosted glass door has approached

Cool, collected and no latch in sight it stands firm,

I can see her softly edged outline and I know I have become the same

A moment I spend waiting until it hits me like a door that won’t open

Turning to make my way back, my mind tightens, and my pace slows,

I thumb through the pages searching

Each page turns into thousands of words turns into millions of letters until I have sifted through countless T’s and Q’s with no sign of that liberating stroke of the brush,

Fatigued and forlorn I falter through the leather bound doorway closing it behind me,

I am still hungry but not yet human.
