I originally didn't ask for the video specifically because I haven't liked the music in the videos I've seen. I'd really prefer raw footage. I finally decided it was worth it anyway. I suppose I can always edit the music out or replace it or something.

Lol yeah that's a great example of trying to do more than you need.
A lot of companies do that nowadays.
Raw footage would be 90x better.

I'm actually very surprised they don't offer raw footage. I think when I go I'll have to ask if they'll let me wear a helmet cam

I imagine that with some proper timing (1:15), this could fit the mood a hell of a lot better than Free Falling

Yeah, I would definitely use that song.

EDIT: No, definately "Graduate" by Third Eye Blind.

      First Skydive - YouTube

It turned out pretty much how I expected. I edited it a bit, replacing the music in the middle and removing some parts. I'm so self-conscious about so much in this (stupid looking hat, hands too rigid during free-fall ...) I didn't even want to upload it. When I first saw it I said there was no way I was going to, but I guess I did.

Fucking composure, man. I would need men in white coats to take me away when I landed, I can't stand huge heights. Abseiling scared the shit out of me. Though I climb trees to stupid heights... feels safe somehow.

That was AWESOME!!!! Those instructors are a couple of comedians!! ~Could you tell your jump partner was making fun of you all the way down? Heh, funny though... otherwise it would have been a video of a freefalling statue of terror. Not blaming you... I was terrified just watching! Glad you posted it in spite of the funny hat.

      Thanks for the comments everyone.
@Darkmatters Making fun of me? I think she was trying to get me to look at the camera and help me fix the hat. The camera guy had a sense of humor though. Although I was terrified in the plane while about to jump out, I honestly wasn't very afraid after the first second or two of free-fall. The exhilaration made up for anything, I'm not trying to complain, but to give some context to it all if I looked to be in discomfort, I was worrying about all of these things at once (on top of the fact that I was falling at 120 mph):
      - It felt like my hat was falling off
      - My goggles were hurting against my face and half falling off
      - My contact lenses were blurring
      - My chest strap was way too tight and hurting (when the parachute opened she loosened it)
      - It was really difficult to breathe and I was taking short quick breaths, afraid that I'd lose the ability completely. (I only found out later that it's better to breathe through your nose, they didn't tell me before)
      - My ears were hurting more than they ever have before, from the high elevation and quick descent

Yeah, now that you mention it, it must've been terribly uncomfortable. PLUS a guy sticking a video camera in your face the whole time!!

You handled it brilliantly. I'da been like "get that camera outta my face..."

That is the best song ever made, don't you DARE diss it. I would TOTALLY use that as my soundtrack.

That video was awesome, I didn't know you could strap on with an experienced flyer. That makes it so much less daunting. Now I'm more encouraged to do it myself.

I didn't know either until I got the idea that I'm going skydiving and looked it up. I was thinking of a certain King of the Hill episode and thought I'd go solo first after going through the training courses. But apparently (at least at the places I looked) the prerequisite for the solo training course was to have taken at least 1 tandem jump. This bothered me at first because I felt like it was a... less courageous way to do it. But I'm glad - it was scary as it was and going solo would have given me a lot more to worry about.

I definitely advise doing it for anyone who hasn't. If you look at the statistics, the chance of something going wrong is very small. You'd be better off worrying about dying in a car accident on the way there. I asked how many deaths there have been there, and they told me only one, years ago, which they think was a suicide. My dad's friend who recommended the place was there, and he and the other skydiving addicts and professionals were going up and down multiple times while we were there. It's hard to believe people can do something like that so casually. I don't think I'd hesitate to take the training course and go solo if it wasn't so expensive. Maybe I will someday.

I decided to count how many times I say the word 'intense' in the final interview... 4.

You have to. It's too much of a liability for the skydiving company. Only experienced skydivers can go solo.

An nice job. That first hop out of the plane is the scariest part huh? Next time ask if you can have the guide chute thrown a little later, without it you get that freefalling feeling for even longer
