Thread: Why do people hate rainy/stormy weather?

BC, Do you not see me location indicator? Roberts Creek is on the ironically named "Sunshine Coast" and is a 40 minute ferry ride to Vancouver.

it seems everyone canadian on the website is in British Columbia. Is Lucid dreaming a hot topic there :/

im the only one in ontario, and that is the most populated of the provinces

I only hate it when they cause electricity outages. I keep a goldfish, and I always get a little worried when the power to his tank filter gets cut during bad storms. Well, that and having to stumble around a dark house 'cause I think I broke the last flashlight I had.

I can't speak for all of BC but I don't think I've ever heard anyone bring up lucid dreaming IRL. I found out about it online. It doesn't seem popular at all.

Yeah, that's when driving becomes scary.

Because people don't take the time to really focus on it. They just worry that it'll in some way inconvenience their probably quite mundane daily plans. The sight, the sound, the feel of it on your skin is wonderful in small doses. Saying that I only live in southern England, I might feel different if was near the arctic circle.

Inconvenience isn't a factor at all for me. I just hate the feeling of misery it gives me. Actual storms, I don't mind, and snow I like. It's the incessant dreary rain that lasts all day that bothers me.

I also can't stand the cold itself. I hate wearing sweatshirts inside but while cold I get energiless and tired if I don't.

Rain has a weird effect on me while I'm driving. I actually drive FASTER than I normally would, I think it's because I focus so much on the road, that I forget about my speed. It's not particularly faster, but going 10km/h over the speedlimit is unusual for me. Normally I would hear that I'm going faster, but I guess with the rain and so on distracting me, I don't notice.

I love the rain too!
I used to go under the rain when I was young, I like the feeling of walking under the rain. So yeah everyone is running under the rain and I'm strolling!

But I always get scolded afterwards because I was drenched from head to toe. But you know something? That really tested my immunity system. Despite being drenched and under the air con for the whole day, I didn't fall sick!

The only thing I dislike about walking under the rain is my bag getting wet, so hell yeah, bow to the rain, rain rocks!

summer rain is my favourite kind. makes me wanna run around barefoot in the backyard.

Well I just took a 2.5 hour walk in the pouring rain and got hot so had to take my jacket off. People probably thought I was crazy. It was nice though.

Especially when there is thunder and lighting i do the very same thing, i stood under the cherry tree outside my house, it was a warm summer pour. And thunder and lightning gives me a huge adreniline rush.

I like heavy rain and storms. But don't like extreme temperatures or wind when it's a cold day. I like wind when it's a warm day.

Ugh I can't go home tonight due to another fatality by where I live. I wish people would be more careful

I used to like cloudy/rainy weather, but now I hate it. It's been rainy and cloudy the past few days here, and should be for a while longer, and I can't enjoy a striking sunrise or see the stars at night. It sucks ass. It's just grey, blah and bleak.

The road opened back up so I was able to go home.

As expected. You know it's hard for me to find sympathy for people who just can't slow down in the rain, it really pisses me off. How hard is it to to just slow down and avoid putting other lives in danger.

I don't know if that was the case here, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Storms make me wanna build blanket forts.
And draw cartoons and sing along or even dance inside said blanket fort if I feel like it.

One of the best places to spend one, I think, is a nice-sized veranda or deck. Especially if it's a summer storm...with thunder, even.

Spoiler for sidestories:

I remember my cabinmates and I got scolded once for dancing in the rain at 4-H camp, and then in Florida my cabin got scolded for playing in the mud during a storm, inciting others to do so as well.

I think they thought we were setting a bad example maybe, but in retrospect I still don't think it required scolding.

It was spontaneous, and fun, and memorable in a positive way. And since no one got hurt in the process, I call that a success.

Actually, the last place I'd want to be in a storm is in a car, now that I think about it.
