Still, you shouldn't be so careless with your pets.. I can't imagine what kind of wreck I'd be if something happened to my dog.

So I clicked on this, read the title, and didn't watch the movie. I don't want to know what happens. I'm just going to assume the dog is fine.

My friend in high school had a puppy once. They had a huge deck in the back of their house and used to leash it up on the deck. One day she comes home from school and the puppy is hanging from the deck, dead. I tell people this whenever I see them tying their dog up somewhere it could fall off. So goddamn sad.

This is true. I always watch my dog like a hawk whenever we're out anywhere. I couldn't stand losing him, but knowing it was my fault would be so much worse.

Yeah, the dog is fine Maybe a little confused/shaken. But perfectly fine.
Basically he got dragged up by the lead but then it broke off when it reached the top.
It was just heartbreaking from the first view inside.

That is horrible what happened to your friend's dog. I think that's good advice. They always forget they're on a lead.
I always make sure there's absolutely no real hazards that could harm my dog. Have to think of it from a dog's perspective

I once saw a dog tied to like a bar and it was in the back of a truck, in the parking lot, we went in, and when we came back it was hanging by the neck dead, and i was like 8, it was soo sad. D:

Judging by how horrified and worried he was, I think he was already punished enough. I'm sure he'll never be that careless again. See, the most wretched people commit animal abuse intentionally and over and over again because they have no empathy for animals, and this guy obviously cared for his pet quite deeply and showed remorse. It was an accident.

      I'm glad it ended well.

Damn, that got me cringing and praying for the dog. Weird how I always feel more sympathy for animals then I will ever will for humans.

Ok so I watched it and I don't know what you guys are talking about...he isn't horrified at all. He keeps putting his hands up to his head and bending over because he is obviously injured. He keeps checking to see if his head is bleeding. He seems pretty nonchalant about the dog and more worried about himself.

It would be really weird to see that from the woman's perspective. At least she went back and tried to keep the dog from running off.

Heh.... that rings true. In fact most of the time I feel no empathy for humans whatsoever.

Yeah I wasn't sure about that either. I figured he was either really distressed or just looking at his hands or head for damage, not giving a fuck about that dog.

Um, wow. Why would he be checking his head for injuries? He didn't hit anything, and the elevator didn't malfunction in any way, he just got shocked. He wouldn't put his hands on his head or neck that long even if he was.

I'm sure he cares about the dog. Bulldogs are expensive after all. But if you watch again, he bangs his head pretty hard on the elevator door (lmao), which seems to be why he bends over and clutches his head, rather than from grief about the dog. The way he pulls the leash out of the door reminds me of how a child looks when they've just done something bad and don't want to get caught. Then a nonchalant button push after recovering the frayed leash. I would be frantic to know what happened to my dog if that were me. But maybe he's just suffering from head injury.

      edit: deery, watch it again

I DID watch it again, right before making that post. I find it very hard to see it that way unless I wanted to believe he was a bad person. Whatever.

He clearly hit his head on the door.

      This dude is clearly high.

He knows the dogs outside, still pushes button.

Looks at the dog. Door closes. Continues looking....

He contemplates his highness for a second, then contemplates eating the dog to cure his munchies.

      Then all of a sudden..

OH SHIT.... where'd the dog go!!!?!!?!

The man was holding his head in pain.

      Therefore.

The man does not care about the dog.

      I see.

That was quite terrifying to watch. I have considered that very scenario for years, but never heard of it really happening. I was almost sure that the dog was dead while watching the elevator camera.

I find it hard to believe, unless he has some empathy disorder, that anyone would not care about the dog. It's possible, but unlikely. He probably just had some lapse in reason. Does he have to put on some dramatic act of despair, start banging on the walls and screaming in agony? We can't even see his facial expression. We just don't know.

Yeah, it is much easier to care about a dog than a human, not that I think we should care more about animals. I think most of the caring felt toward animals is fabricated. We're seeing pitiableness and innocence that isn't necessarily there.

I dunno, it's pretty hard not to like somebody who literally dances with joy every time they see you.

That's what I saw too, he's also pretty slow on the reaction. He watches the door shut completely then realises his error. 'The dog was supposed to be inside the elevator!' I don't know... if it were me, I'd have stopped the doors before they'd gotten half way shut, wouldn't you?

It seems we've at last now encountered one effectual speculation, albeit a rather personal one, as to the cause of this entire recorded occurrence. I'm calling you out, Dianeva. What about such a human--one "who literally dances with joy every time they see you"--turns you off?
