      An Attempt To Stay Awake

      Original Post
So, it's been about a year or so since I've been on the site!
I never could achieve Lucid Dreaming, so I thought of other ways... I tried doing The Ganzfeld Procedure but still had no luck. So to get to the point of this, I want to hallucinate. In order to do so, I will be staying up for more than 48hrs. I currently have 12hrs completed at the moment.

Anyone have tips for staying up for a long time? Would I pass out if I watched movies? Of course with the light on and drinking a good amount of water.

      Thanks!

      Time of Start:
      May 16, Wednesday
      Roughly 4:00 PM

      Goal
      May 20, Sunday
      Roughly 4:00 PM

      May 17, Thursday
      11:58 AM

I will be keeping tabs of my experiences and to look back at them! So far I am not that tired at all! I have drunk a bit of Coffee, but I am keeping it in serious moderation so I won't crash. I've hit the 20hr mark and plan to continue further. My stomach seems to be killing me, but maybe it's just because I can't eat properly. My appetite seems to be a bit off, but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with Sleep Deprivation. I don't even think I have hit true Sleep Deprivation yet. I took a Vitamin B6 to get at least a vitamin in me, for I can't take a Multi-Vitamin. They just taste awful and I have problems with swallowing pills. Hour 20 and all is going well! I hope the next hours are a breeze, but I know they won't be as easy as this. I'm hoping Caffeine can be on my side for once. Until next entry/edit!

Almost there! I'm at 23hrs. 20min ago I was ready to die, now that I have Caffeine and Skrillex I am fine. Skrillex is one of my most hated. Of course the loud and obnoxious sounds will awaken me. 23hrs so far and still counting. No real signs of hallucinations. Just tired... as F***. Wish me luck!

      May 17, Thursday
      4:35 PM

I'm tired. I'm hungry. I am already starting to have trouble calculating. I am even getting confused to whether I really woke up at 4:00 PM yesterday. It feels as if I woke up 14hrs ago instead. I'm not sure why... This early? Only 24hrs? Either way, I need to go get snacks. I've already had 4 cups of Coffee. I'm very sensitive to Caffeine, which could mean 6-7 cups of Coffee for a normal person. My hands are a bit jittery. Until next entry/edit!

      May 17, Thursday
      6:20 PM

On the verge of giving up. It's my 26th hour and I'm tired. I stopped drinking Caffeine because it started making me feel sick. I am gonna try to watch a funny movie, if that is making me dose off... well, time for more loud obnoxious music. Until then, I hope I can continue. So far no major confusion, hallucination, etc signs. It's hard to calculate and think properly, and I am extremely tired. The tiredness could be coming from stopping Caffeine. Wish me luck! Until next entry/edit!

      May 17, Thursday
      8:00 PM

Hmm, I seem to be more awake now. Perhaps the Caffeine left my body? Anyway, it's my 28th hour. I finally have a break from earlier! I don't feel as tired. I still feel the tiredness, but it's to the point where I can ignore it. Perhaps there truly is sleepness schedules every 24 hours? Doing well so far, glad I didn't give up on my entry before! Gonna try to continue this, I still have 68 hours to go!

      May 17, Thursday
      9:45 PM

Still awake and feeling fine. There's no doubt that I wouldn't mind a nice rest, but I can still ignore the tiredness and continue my sleepless schedule. There's no real signs of hallucinations. Although I did experience a zoom out type of feeling for a few moments. Other than that, still going! In around 15min or so, I will hit the 30hr mark! Meaning I will only have 66hrs left to complete!

      May 17, Thursday
      10:13 PM

The tiredness has hit me... I got my emergency juice to help out. (Cola) It's my last hope, otherwise I'm gonna crash. It's time to try some Skrillex and moving around.

Blah blah. lol. Don't have a lot to do. I'm curious to when hallucinations will start. I've read a lot of things that it can be different for some people. I hope I don't have to go to 3 days... that is if I can.

      May 18, Friday
      4:10 AM

1 day and a half mark (36 hours)! Got down watching a movie! Pretty funny, no real signs of Sleep Deprivation. It's like it almost vanished. I feel like I've been up for 12hrs and am just gonna get ready to sleep, but I could stay up for much longer. My thoughts and what not is probably still off. I'll end up fatigued fairly quickly if I do anything active. I'm stretching a good bit and the world seems a bit... weird? No serious signs of hallucinations yet. I think I may have caught a glimpse of something out of my eye. As for Auditory, absolutely nothing.

As someone who was tortured with the inability to sleep for weeks at a time, I can assure you that it is not something you want to do. It is not healthy and will do nothing to help your journey in dreaming or achieving an altered state of mind. So no, I do not have any advice and sincerely hope no forum member would be disingenuous to enough to actually offer you some. I have a small book of poetry I wrote during that time period. If you want me to send you it and go down a rabbit whole of chaos, I will bring you along for the ride.

I'm just interested in giving it a go. It will be a new experience, and I am curious. I guess I could say this is a little experiment. Sometimes people just need to see the horror to actually want to not do it again.

I've read a few things, and I know the risk I am taking. My brain sucks anyway. Lol

Being actively staying up till 4/5am or if I passed 7am, I'll probably hang on till 12pm everyday for years now, on and off, I can give you a few ways to do it. I agree with Warheit that it is nothing pleasant but I trust everyone on DV to be sensible enough to know the limits.

The easiest way is to have something you need to do. An example being you need to complete a work urgently so you can't fall asleep. Or you can get yourself something to be addicted to, like playing games or DV or chatting with friends. You need to be actively doing something other than staring to keep yourself awake. Watching movies might pull you to sleep unless you are really addicted to the movie/show.

The next thing is practice, practice staying up late. Same like it's hard for me to sleep early straight away, it'll be hard for you to stay up late if you are not used to it. I've been doing this for years so it's nothing to me. It started with playing games I think.

The longest time I've spent awake is probably 29 hours I think.

Staying up late initially might cause you some weird problems. My body started shaking if I stayed up the whole night to do work. Or you'll experience extreme headache. To know that your body is more tuned to staying up late, you'll be experiencing lightness in your head as opposed to the initial heaviness you feel on your head.

As for me, I tend to feel like bashing someone one or fucking someone up if I was awake for a long time.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been giving myself a few things to do, but I can't concentrate on them too long. Caffeine helps a good bit though.

You may do as you want, however I slept less than 72 hours in a span of a whole month and it about did me in. I just wish you the best.

Just do some salvia man, that will make you hallucinate.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

Salvia is a pathetic excuse for a drug. Do not do it.

If you live somewhere the smoking of marijuana is legal, then I recommend doing that with your favorite means.

Or if you can find DMT, that's the best drug ever.

I hope you realize what you're actually intending to do is worse for your mind and health than any of the drugs we've mentioned

      Just keep that in mind.

Yeah I did stuff like this when I had a lot of money, I suggest video games, they always kept me going. I didn't eat anything ether, and I smoked a lot of weed. I lost a hundred pounds doing this, and everyone will say and has said thats really unhealthy, but I could care less I was really stupid and young(er) then and Now I'm not overweight and have major confidence compared to how much I had before.

Because I was doing treatment for a condition I have which consisted of medication that caused insomnia due to such a high dosage. That is the long and short of it, and I would rather not go back into details for personal reasons.

      Ok.
      So you disagree?

I do. It doesn't hold a candle up to DMT but if you've done Salvia and haven't done DMT I don't see how you could possibly make this claim. Unless you didn't do it right and just ended up feeling frustrated and ripped off. But if you did it right, then I don't see how you could make that claim.

Salvia I had bad experiences with, but its true how you use it really depends on the feel you get from it. As for DMT it is the best drug ever, I just wish I could get it still, everyone should try especially if your on this site. I watched my body age through to an old man and come back off it once, and this is the best hallucinogen I have ever had.

Yeah Salvia has a really jarring comedown making your setting pretty important. But as far as intensity goes, DMT is the only thing in the same ball-park (well actually, DMT is even more intense). But I tried salvia long before DMT so I found it to be incredible.

I put hallucinogens in 3 tiers. The first tier is marijuana, which can be intense, especially if you're new to it, but it doesn't last very long. Tier 2 is LSD, Mushrooms, Peyote, DXM and Ketamine, which is much more intense than the average weed high and lasts for several hours, but you're still aware of identity for most of the trip and are aware you're in this universe and are still experiencing this universe. Tier 3 is DMT, Salvia and other stuff I've never tried but heard about. This is the stuff that ships you off into a new experience all together where you are no longer aware of your surroundings, often never even aware you had surroundings, or what surroundings are. There's plenty that don't really fall correctly into any category, such as Whip-its and Ether which are extremely intense in their own right but don't have quite the hallucinogenic effect of Salvia or DMT.

Anyways, that was really off-topic but my point is nearly every drug I mentioned is less dangerous than sleep deprivation. Sleep is extremely important to our mental and physical health and people interested in hallucinating by inducing sleep deprivation are better off using drugs.

And on a side note, nothing I mentioned can be compared to meth. Just because the drugs I'm talking about are illegal does not make them dangerous or addictive like meth is. Meth, Heroine and Crack Cocaine do not deserve to be typified with hallucinogens. Thank you, good night.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.
