      In memory of my father...

My father used to be in the Portuguese army back in 60s-70s, he fought for his country before he moved to Canada to live and work here.
This video doesn't have him actually seen in it, but it was one of his missions to go.
Now may he rest in peace, and never think of this awful day again, he was disturbed by the war just like any other military officer after war. Carnation Revolution= Never again, Portugal lost the war but all soldiers and families rejoiced that war was over and happy to come back home. They didn't care if they won or lost, they just wanted to end this war and kill no more.
It was known that many men from Portugal was killed during this war, and if he wasn't still alive after, then i wasn't either.
May he rest peacefully after a diagnose of throat and lung cancer.

This is a great post, and I will watch the clip when I am on a PC.

Obviously you were pretty close to him, but where did he work after the war? I know a lot of vets have trouble finding good work in the 70s and 80s.

It was actually very easy to find work in those days here, he mostly worked in a lumber factory. I was close to him during my pre-teen and teen years, but slowly became independent when i was 17+, which is normal because i was becoming an adult.
He was a more positive parent than my mom, my mom was too much for me, reason why in adult times i used to stay out late and overnight to avoid her. My dad also felt the same, and i have more of my dad's dna and personality than my mom.

Sorry that this is not english but i can translate, i understand most of it.
1st, man was a doctrine nurse

2nd, a bakery specialist to make food (bread)for the army while there, trained others to do so as well, said the first days in africa was very bad and once they landed there was instant attacks for 4 days with bombs.

3rd, Military combatant, mind you these are men who are forced for military by age 18, this wasn't a liking for military.

4th, a driver, the only man here voicing his opinion on being forced to military war and having no rights for them at this time and doesn't wish this to anyone.

5th, combatant, injured on the eye and was patched and sent back to combat

Carnation Revolution; War ends, Revolution starts from Military forces against their dictator, driving him out of office. Scene from a Portuguese movie, reenacted very thoroughly.

Cool glad i came across this, it brings back memories of my service for my country. You should be very proud of your father. Yet he didn't have a choice in the matter, but im sure he doesn't regret his actions. He is very lucky to make it out alive, i lost many brothers who didn't. I will watch the video because i do not know too much about thay war but i am sure i can resemble it as i to serve in two wars, and war never changes anything. Just causes hurt.
