Exactly, do we really need - or more importantly, want - a world full of medicated children? Is that really the right message to send or the future we want for Mankind?

The problem with all of this (wow, I've gotten this thread way off course. Sorry) is that once the trend begins it's very difficult to stop or even slow it down. Not to mention the nearly-unobtainable hope to reverse it. The fact that there is so much drug advertising worries me for society in general. And the fact that every one feels they need a magic pill for every tiny, minute thing that ails them - or that might ail them - shows that society has really fallen victim to the hype.

53, pfft, I knew I was sane but I didn't think I was that sane.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

      I scored 19. I agree 100% with Oneironaught, though.

GH, you are so right. In my house hold my step-dad is that way, everyone else in my home isn't. We use good old natural methods and we're up and running a day later while he'd still be trying to work it off and taking medicine.

Just because meds can help get you better doesn't mean that the old ways can't either, sometimes they're faster and they don't make your body dependent on them since your immune system won't falter from taking them.

Back on topic now... I scored 29... Suitable I'd say considering I am quite melodramatic when I wish to be. But disorder is only when it becomes compulsive right? Cause it's certainly not that for me... it's merely a habit to spice things up... if I'm not melodramatic now and again my parents might mistake me as depressed.

have you ever read Kevin Trudeau's book Natural Cures? he's kindof extreme but i think a lot of what he says is true. basically everything you just said.

i'm sort of...not sure what to think. all these "disorders" do seem ridiculous and i think what you said about drug companies needing to drum up business and manufacturing conditions is right. and ideally i think they could be cured by things like A HEALTHY DIET and maybe BETTER PARENTING (referring to Mes Tarrant's example). i mean, think of how horribly lazy and gluttonous people (at least in america) are. no wonder everyone is so fucked up. your body NEEDS exercise and nutrition.

eating healthy and exercising CAN be expensive, but no more expensive than taking drugs (which also have side effects)..

of course there are some people (more severe cases), who could benefit from drugs. but after awhile i think they could (and should) get themselves to where they don't need them, by changing their lifestyles.

i'm sorry if my thoughts are disorganized, it's just a big subject...and PLEASE, DO NOT (EVER) apologize for getting off topic as long as you're sharing your thoughts on something related.

Paperdoll, yeah I mean wow people just sit around doing nothing, playing video games all day (that's a popular one) and they don't know just how much it's contributing to their mental states. I'm not a health freak by any means.. I have barely done anything productive this summer.. but man, I know when to stop certain things.

Hey! Video games made me the genius I am today

Though I don't play nearly as often as I once did.

Hehehe Don't get me wrong, I like video games. Just not when they're played, say, 24/7.

You scored a total of 44.

You appear to be suffering moderate to severe symptoms associated with mania, commonly associated with serious mood disorders such as bipolar disorder or cyclothymic disorder. These symptoms appear to be causing you some impairment and distress in your normal, everyday functioning. You would likely benefit from the immediate attention of your physician or a trained mental health professional for further evaluation and a more accurate diagnosis and treatment. If your employer offers an Employee Assistance Program, you might also contact them for help and referral.

alright, so i'm a complete schizo. only cos i must have scored highly on the questions that said 'talks too much' and 'can't sit still'. that's been me since i was three years old!

although i do suffer from some crazy moods though...ugh.

Don't need to take the quiz. I already know that I'm a high functioning borderline with characterstics of rapidly cycling bi-polar disorder.

I got 53, but I doubt the trustworthiness of this test. Some of these questions are kinda...normal? Just because you think about sex one week a lot doesn't mean you're crazy...

      I scored 12.

But seriously I think I do have some bipolar genes that could possibly show up later in life as my mom and grandma and my grandmas mom have had bipolar episodes.

Hey you should read a book called Shadow Syndroms, it talks about the mild forms of several disorders including bipolar. Mildly manic people, although they can get themselves into dangerous situations, are more creative and fun and have happier lives than most "normal folks." That book though was an eye opener on the deadliness of certain shadow symptyms of disorders which is why i found it interesting.
