back to the old english example: even people who are comfortable with the language have trouble interpreting Shakespeare. does that mean Shakespeare sucked at english? no.

the "me went to the store earlier" example illustrates my point. there is no difference in meaning between "I went to the store earlier" and "me went to the store earlier". so in this instance, there's no purpose for having two separate terms.
But over time English has changed. We now have what is grammatically acceptable when it comes to the English language. What we speak now, will not necessarily be the language we speak in 100 years. So what is socially accepted now, is as we all know; might not be accepted later on. But this doesn't detract from what you are saying.

Going to your example with the use of me and I. If you were to go to a job interview and said "Me is very good with computers." and I were to say "I am very good with computers." Who do you think would have the better chance at the job?

There is a difference between the two sayings; one is correct, the other incorrect. Doesn't matter how you try sugar coat it, it is pure ignorance and laziness to use incorrect grammar.

There, now will you read what I have to say?

Also: I don't lack grammar. I lack proper grammar, i.e., that which is up to the highest standard, and is, for the most part, superfluous. I utilize only the grammatical tools which are necessary to convey what I want to say.
I was talking about people that don't even attempt simple grammar. At the least, people should type as they would talk to respectfully. Unless you're pissed. And thanks for the spell check.

sure. but a forum or chat room isn't a professional job application, is it?

without grammar nazis, our language will simplify faster, which is not to say that our capability of expression will be reduced. rather, we'd be ridding ourselves of those grammar rules which hinder swift communication.

SUMMARY FOR ALL OF YOU WHO HAV SHIT READING COMPREHENSION SKILLS:
i don't advocate the elimination of all grammar. the grammar rules which are UNNECESSARY are those which we should rid ourselves of.

to put it in perspective: do you use the word "whom" where it's appropriate? if you don't, then why not? because you can get your point across without it.

I would use it if required. I type as I speak albeit a forum or at work. Regardless, I do not start dropping syllables from words, or saying things such as "me is good thanks"

I guess I just don't understand the need to try to abbreviate words all the time, it does not take that much time and effort to type and/or speak correctly...

what is acceptable in certain situations is different from what is practical. of course i'm not stupid enough to walk into an interview and speak that way, but in an informal setting, i will disregard certain rules. i won't go so far as to say "me" rather than "i", though, but i hope that one day that will be socially acceptable. the way i type now is one step closer to that goal.

i'm not asking ppl to make a flip-of-the-switch transition, but i would appreciate it if they'd ease up a little and let evolution run its course

Some people are just too analytical and anal though... Me being one of those people. Old habits die hard. I have just been brought up to speak and type properly, regardless.

If language changes, I will change with it, but all the time the Oxford dictionary tells me how to spell, I will follow.

      Anyway, moving on

      annoying:
-Regina Spektor and Led Zeppelin fans and their "this is real music i hate our generation" bullshit. what the fuck is fake music?
      -Uggs, Crocs
-the way ppl talk: "like", "just". then, b/c they have such extensive vocabularies, they add one of these (common) modifiers: "amazing", "ridiculous", "gorgeous", "horrible", "random", "wonderful"
      -unwarranted singing
-and that girl who thinks she's unique for being a Daoist/lesbian/"just moved here", and interrupts the class to remind us of that, who recounts boring anecdotal stories about friends/distant relatives every time it is even remotely related to whatever the lesson is about, and writes generic "philosophical" song lyrics on the board to appear "enlightened". it's so fucking annoying. no one cares about your "individuality" here. welcome to my city, where EVERYONE tries too hard to be unique, so no one is. preps are the minority here. get used to being just another "nonconformist" cuz everyone else thinks you're ANNOYING. same goes for everyone who actually puts effort into being unique, like becoming a vegetarian, political activist, homosexual, adopting Eastern religion, doing drugs, listening to any music that isn't popular, etc., just for the sake of "standing out". fucking posers. my town is full of these types.

Hey Replicon! I was in Seattle these last few days. It rained, rained, SNOWED , and rained. Good times.

Dry eyes annoy me as well. I've never used drops though because I have this silly fear of becoming dependent on them, like my eyes will always be dry unless I use them?

My eye doctor actually recommended that I start using them since I stare at a computer all day (and probably forget to blink).

I normally put a couple of drops in each in the morning before work, when I get home from work (if they are really dry/irritated) and before I go to bed at night.

FYI.. The best eye drops I've found (cuz they won't just run out of your eyes and down your face) are Refresh Liquigel by Allergan.

When I'm tired, my eyes usually get all watery, the annoying part is when I am walking around, like in a hallway at school, the air really aggravates it and I end up looking like I'm crying or something ...

Well, it rains "all the time" in winter. But really, on a normal winter (which we haven't had since 2004 it seems), there's no real snow, and even the rain is mild and pleasant. It's like that pleasant "spitty" stuff that doesn't leave you wet. You can usually go for a walk in it. But that weekend, if it wasn't snowing really hard, it was raining really hard (I think Sunday night and Monday was all hard rain).

It's entertaining watching west coast drivers attempt to drive in snow. They should stay home

I hear Seattle doesn't have snow plows. Is that true or just an excuse?
