It's quite obvious really, In the bible there were only males, God and the angels, It wasen't untill adem wished for eve that wemon appeared. Plus he is predominant name-wise so calling god a she dosen't work either way. |
Why do we always use him, or he, or his, to represent whatever of god. God doesn't have a gender or anything this has always confused me... I mean apart from when we use given names like the almighty, all powerful etc... it is always his power, his glower, glorify him, he struck down.... and so on. any thoughts? |

you can't do that on the internet!.... wait yes you can do it again!
Because in the English language, the default gender for anything that could have any gender is "he". It's more logical than just saying he/she/it and it reads better. |

Well, females were considered not as important back in like, the dark ages when the bible was written by some monk dudes. So I suppose they just did it all in "he" anyway. |
Calling him "it" all the time would be disrespectful. |

Ignorant bliss is an oxymoron; but so is miserable truth.
I think it's because the women wasn't worth as much as the men was back in that time when the bible was written. It was obvious that God must be a man. All the leaders and all big ppl were men and the women were in the kitchen cooking and taking care of the men... ahh good times... "He" probably just followed all the way to our time. And what else should you call God... it? Maybe they can come up with a word instead of he, thats better than it... Any suggestions? |

Because women can\'t drive! |
okay, so when the book was written by the enlightened aposteles, women magically werent inferior to men in their opinions at the time, or something? |
This is easy. "God created man in the image of himself." |
You guys don't have all the facts on the women thing. The history is pretty complex! Has anyone read the DaVinci Code? I recommend that, it clears up a LOT of stuff. Anyway, in the very beginning, women were practically seen as holy creatures, but then some crap with churches happened and blah blah blah.. I really don't remember too much, but this thing goes waaaaaaay back. |

Quin custodiet custodes ipsos?
That's man; which sometimes refers to all human beings. |

Cause Jesus called him father |

There are some who worship the Divine Feminine, also called Deity or Goddess. It sort of balances out in the end. As for me, I might have been totally offended back when I was more of a diehard feminist, but now I really don't care one way or the other. He, She, It, whatever. My faith doesn't acknowledge a single omnipotent deity anyway, so it really doesn't matter to me. |
