Thread: Who runs DreamViews?

Dreamviews was started years ago by a young man by the screenname of IceDawg. He ran the forum for a good few years before deciding to sell it so he could further pursue his education. He sold it to Asher of Top Cola Inc. who has owned the website since.

It is now, in fact, a business. The purpose of Dreamviews is now revenue.

So revenue based on advertising I am guessing?

any ideas on the privacy policy?

there is an ad on the main page. it changes about sometimes.

As ExoByte said, Top Cola Inc. (a business) owns the site. Technically Asher runs the place, though he doesn't have a lot of time to spend here, so that is mostly technical things beyond the permissions or abilities of the other administrators.

Yes, posts do become the property of Dreamviews. However, you automatically retain copyright as well, according to copyright law as I understand it, to the content of your posts (as long as that content was not copyrighted by someone else in the first place, in which case it would be removed anyway). Copyright law is a fiddly subject at times.

The motivation of the website is to become the largest lucid dreaming community and resource on the Web, and to make money doing that, which really comes first. Revenue is made through advertising, though ads on the forums have been temporarily disabled. Privacy policy . . . I thought I had a copy around here somewhere, hold on. Edit: It seems I do not. Perhaps Asher can chime in on that subject.

Do Administrators and staff members get paid/have to pay for their positions?

No they don't in both respects. Staff members have simply put in time to get to know the forum and the members therein, being as helpful as possible. If new staff members are needed, they are chosen among those who contribute positively on a regular basis. They volunteer their time and effort and I thank each and everyone of them for it.

No, and no. Unless you consider drinking imaginary wine from the Admin Wine Cellar 'pay.'

So basically....they're Asher's willing servants? Doing all the work for him while he's the one that rakes in the cash? Sounds like a pretty sweet deal for Asher. I might have to take a shot at purchasing my own websites one day.

Oh I'm sure that the money goes toward maintaining the site and server. And while he's at it, maybe a few good programs. Oh, and a printer might be nice. And picture frames for the printed pictures. And the pictures need to go on a desk, so thats needed too. Whats a desk without a chair, oh! And a secretary. Then they need lunch of course, because I can't see the DV owner not feeding his secretary. Maybe some security might be needed so no one can break into it. They will all need a personal jet just in case they need to get back to DV headquarters quickly. So now we need a runway so the jet can land. But now DV needs to hire a pilot to fly the planes, because maybe they have administrative duties they need to attend to on the plane. Oh, and a hot tub ON the plane so they don't stress.

So for anyone who worries about where the money goes...don't worry. It's all going to profit DV in the long run.

Honestly, though, I quite enjoy contributing what I can to keeping this place going. This site taught me how to control my dream world and have wild sex with the girl(s) of my dreams. That counts for a lot in my book.
