Yeah, telnet is a major pain in the ass when used to connect to IRC.

Still, that was pretty awesome of TweaK to post up how to do that.

I got an actual client, Xchat, seems great so far, I just don't know how to connect.

When XChat opens, choose DarkMyst from the network list. Then just type /join #dreamviews to join the channel.

Or type /server irc.darkmyst.org

Of course. I happen to have XChat installed in Ubuntu. I usually use mIRC, which I like better, I think.

XChat is a bit more web2.0 than mIRC, so to speak

Yeah, I like mIRC's simplicity, yet...customizability. It's whatever you need it to be.


Then again, I haven't used XChat very much.

Why not just use irssi if you're on Linux, it's great.

Where's new flashchat?

Flashchat will be gone. Sorry but flashchat sucks. Accept it. It will be lag city regardless of upgrades. We are going to have a IRC chat nicely integrated into the site. I am very excited for this. You should be too.

IRC is awesome btw. You will love it.

Really looking forward to this. And yeah, IRC is very nice. It will be even nicer when it becomes an official part of the site.

I love this idea. How come I/we never see you on #dreamviews on Darkmyst, if you think IRC is so awesome though?

Well, I started idling there again... and Techboy, Artelis, some randoms and msg sometimes. We need more people.

I've added it to auto-join again.

There is a HUGE speed difference in it already, and I just installed it. The load times are better, and you can make it even more faster by configuring it to connect to DarkMyst every time you start it.

Plus, it's not a resource hog and doesn't lag within the first 5 minutes like the flash client does on my computer.

I just did the telnet thing and it's actually not that bad. Here's a tutorial.

Old, but that would be fun if I could get telnet to work (connect).

Add it as a Windows component or otherwise google PuTTy. Not that it's advisable to actually use telnet as an IRC client

I can't wait for FlashChat to be done away with.
But #Dreamviews is always dead when I drop by.

Drop by these days. We've gotten loads more activity in the past 2 days, though I wonder how long it will last...
