Please elaborate, Phrisco. |

I like the idea, beats having 1000 other currencies. |
|
I don't mind either just as long as it's not an electronic only currency. |

Bye bye exchange rate profit schemes. |

You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.
i feel like its a little more complex than giving everyone the same stuff and calling it the same value for each amount. inflation and deflation occurs independently within each nation, so even though its the same "currency" it might as well be another one. For example, Ecuador uses US currency but things there are incredibly cheap (for Americans). |
|
The idea sounds great on paper, yet it would be too hard to get each nation to give up the value of their currency and move to one. I think each nation should focus only on strengthening the position of their currency, and the US definately should not buy into this scheme. Would there be a World Bank? World Central Bank? We have too many criminal central banks to begin with. How would we decide what amount each nation's currency be worth? And the Fed should not even exist. |

I'm not trying to deviate from your topic so this will be my last post that's not related to your main topic. |

I fail to see how this would reduce the risk of future crises. I mean think about it, this crisis was brought about primarily due to the poorly managed sub prime mortgage market and the financial markets trading mortgage-backed securities. When the bubble burst and there's literally no room for gowth, the downturn in the economy began. The banks took the individual mortgages, packaged and sold as a security, then bought and sold to investors worldwide. |
