Getting kicked out of class for rap 0_o

I was listening to a song that was... well I must admit had inappropriate language and the teacher in the classroom told me to turn it off or leave. I proceeded to tell him the message of the song was not trash like he was claiming it to be but in turn I switched it off to another song., Love Lockdown by Kanye, he proceeded to tell me to leave his classroom immediately. Stupid redkneck school. I am livid and I should go off and tell them just how judgemental and disgusting this whole school is.

What class are you allowed to listen to music in? I find it annoying when people listen to their ipods in class(though this doesn't seem to be what your talking about), but that's just because I have really sensitive hearing and can't stand bad music.
157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.

you should've changed it to a country song and waited to see what he did then, i've had to use this tactic on some teachers back in the day. It's sad really, that most teachers don't uphold a higher standard of professionalism these days, they consider it just another job and the students to be the just more customers, dumb ignorant immature customers. Some teachers are not like this, but most are from what i've witnessed.

I'm not telling you to get into trouble. I'm saying that if the teacher is being unfair and obnoxious catch him on it and call him out ( in a respectful and mature manner).

I had a math teacher that hated and i mean he hated me and my friend because we were the laid back kids in school, we did our work, we knew most of the school was a joke, so we only took the work seriously, and not the teachers that were asses to the kids.... i mean this was in 10th-12th not as small kids or anything. This math teacher was like 56 and he was of the generation of parenting where the child doesn't speak unless spoken to and ANY reply to ANYTHING he said was "sassing" and "back talking" him. So you see where the clash began? He would give a lesson and if i put my elbows on the desk he would write me up for a whole day of detention... this happened EVERY DAY for a whole semester. Finally me and my friend became fed up with his crap and went to our principal (this principal was a great guy, because his son was in our grade as well so he got to hear the students side of things) an we told him of the ridiculous things this teacher was doing, and he told us he would keep it all in mind, that meant when we made our move he would take into account the WHOLE story, not just the teachers side of things... So me and my friend were sitting in math class a week later and the teacher gave his lesson and handed out work, all the while eyeballing us (he did this everyday the whole time we were in class just waiting for the chance to jump at something we'd do) well me and my friend finished the work and went back to our desks.

I slouched in my chair (this is not a prep school, this is a backwoods country school, no other teacher would ever say anything to you for slouching if your work was done) and my friend coughed (not part of the plan) and the math teacher stood up and yelled at us saying we were juvinile delinquents and needed a proper punishment, that's when me and my friend stood before he could tell us to go to the detention room for the rest of the day, and we said " You're a wonderful math teacher and we've learned a lot from the lessons you've taught, but your way of handling the class with anything other than math is out dated and foolish. Your trying to teach a new generation with old standards that have been tested and failed. You're so full of your own power trip you're willing to ruin a students school carrier because of these ridiculous vendettas you create against "juvenile" delinquents ... We are removing ourselves from your class and switching to another math teacher, but until that is implemented, we're leaving you to your foolish ways" and we walked away from the class... the next day, me and my friend were called into a conference in the principals office with the teacher, and were asked why we disrespected him so, we simply stated "we disrespected him because he repeatedly disrespected us. We've crossed no lines that he hasn't crossed." The principal informed the teacher that more than one student had confessed that his math class was a place dreaded because he ran it like a prison and treated the students like inmates. So we were not punished (the principal applauded our way of going about it after the teacher left the office) and we were moved to a different classroom with a new teacher for math...

The point of the story is that while you are still a child, and must show your elders respect, do not allow them to disrespect you. That's how that card is supposed to work. It's a dual process and when one disrespects the other in such an outrageous manner then that tie is broken. But don't be immature about it and cuss and fuss and break rules in spite o the situation...

I wish people wouldn't listen to music during class in the first place, especially since not all the other students have the same taste as you.

Although i disagree with you DP because others shouldn't have to not enjoy themselves because they choose to do it in a way you don't approve of, i think you have a certain point,

a question, was it with earbuds? or was it out loud, and if it was out loud were some of the students still working?

Like you said, if you want to listen to your music you could just use earbuds, and not have them turned up so loud the whole room can hear it.

      Don't headphones solve that problem?

I see no problem with music whatsoever, as long as it's not loud enough for everyone else to hear. That does get very annoying, but as long as it's at an appropriate level there's nothing wrong with it.

      That's awesome...

Anyways, I assume you weren't wearing any headphones because the teacher could actually hear it... So I guess he did have a right to tell you to turn it off..

      So... headphones?

yep, after the first talk with the principal, we decided that on the next issue we would take that action and that i would be the main speaker and he would go along (as he has a very much shorter temper and can't articulate how he feel easily so he get's upset fast and skips the chance to use his words as an "intelligent weapon")

i also only skimmed the water on the ridiculousness of the things we were placed in detention for, to name a big one: My friend tripped over another guys backpack (no not on purpose, i'd advised him to not act foolish or try anything stupid or we couldn't pull off the honesty and truthfulness) so he trips, sprains his ankle, and the teacher gets him suspended for three days for disrupting the class, when my friend repeatedly apologized and tried to explain it wasn't an artificial accident, to no avail though.

In my school we all work with laptops, so listening to music is kind of, yeah, whatever.

We weren't allowed MP3s and mobile phones when I went to HS. If you're allowed that, you're lucky.

My teacher let me listen to music in class while we were typing stuff the other day ^.^
I played motherfucking Green Day. Cussing galore.
      She didn't give two shits.

Anyway, I think that teacher is pretty fucking stupid. You changed the song, for God's sake‼

Oh yes, the teacher is stupid. Even though it's no big secret that A) listening to music through headphones impedes your hearing and thus impedes a good chunk of the lecture that the teacher is trying to get through, B) the inability to understand the material causes your grade to slip, and C) a high school teacher's salary depends on the grades of his students. Yep. That teacher sure is STOOPID for keeping both his students' and his own best interests in mind. I know if I were a teacher, I sure would want my pay docked by teaching a class full of failing morons. Who needs money, right? Who needs basic education, right?

Seriously, though, are the only people in this thread who are agreeing with the OP nothing more than a bunch of immature little teeny-bopper brats who simply can't stand being told what to do? Grow the fuck up. If you can't even handle a teacher telling you not to use an iPod in class, can you really handle a police officer ticketing you because you want to drive 40 miles over the posted speed limit? Life has rules, people, and although some rules were made to be broken, most of them were made with your best interests in mind. Live with it.

On a side note, I find that the educational system in the U.S., although quite poor at the high school level, is slightly more...just, shall we say, when you reach the college level. College professors won't typically give two shits about this sort of thing. Why? Because they no longer get paid strictly based on your grades. Why, again? Because now you're paying for the classes. Every time some dick flunks a $120 college course that he paid for - due to his own unwillingness to take shit seriously - what do I feel? Sweet, sweet Schadenfreude. It only goes to show that failures are self-made.

If you didn't catch my earlier comment it was during free period, it was not an ipod, we were not in class, and again we are aloud to listen to music. It was the type of music he told me not to listen to... not the music itself. I have since been in the class and listened to country far louder than my rap had been and he did not mind at all... shall I repeat this again just for good measure or are you going to get the point this time instead of making irrational assumptions.

Get what? That according to all you here I was distracting students who were also listening to music much louder than I in an enviroment where I was allowed to listen to music but judged because of the TYPE of music. If he had told me to turn off the music in general I wouldn't be upset but it is the discrimination to the genre that upsets me.

I've always wondered why iPod and MP3 player are always considered two different things.
I have an MP3 player that isn't an iPod.

      I love it to death.

Incidentally I don't have to use itunes or anything like itunes to do whatever I want.

      Imagine that.

I really hope you offer context for us soon. If listening to music in class is against the rules period and you broke it just to be a little rebel then you should feel very, very ashamed of yourself for even making this thread. There's a pretty strong whiff here that the whole truth isn't being presented for consideration.

I'll gladly be corrected. Do so.
