Year and years ago, when I was young, me and a few of my buddies always traveled around on foot. This particular day we were just walking a few hours to a town north of ours, and along the way we followed several different train tracks. As we were walking on one track, with dense thorn bushes running along both sides right up to the tracks, we heard a train coming. We didn't particularly feel like jumping into thorn bushes, and we didn't feel like getting hit by a train... so we just ran. The train was literally 15 feet behind us, seconds from hitting us, when we got to where the road was and got out of the way. I'm sure we scared the chit outta the conductor, since he was honking his horn like crazy. Anyways, that's it I guess. I was in the persian gulf war too, but I wouldn't call that awesome.

That was when something awesome happened. When i first started listening to it properly.

When I ran away from home for the first time when I was about 14 years old.
I woke early and typed a letter to my mom, telling her that I had to go to the library some time that afternnoon. I told her I was out walking, but I'd be back in time. Then I walked from NAS (the "island") toward the other Naval Base, I don't know how many miles away. The walk took me most of the day.
I stopped at a store along the way and bought a bottle of Coke. Then I went to a grocery store near my destination and bought some Crackle candy bars and a bottle of (oops) seltzer water. I had brought strawberry Garlfield "gummies" and a bunch of crackers with me from home.

The first night, I slept high off the ground on a tree branch. I slept really well and thought about just calling the branch my new home. But as I fidgeted around, a big patch of bark broke away and roaches and other bugs revealed themselves.
I shuddered. A lot. lol Then I built a lean-to. I used a large tree as my base, then leaned saplings against it, which I tied together with something I called a "fan plant" (it looks like a spikey palm tree, but grows in bunches close to the ground). Fan Plants were used all my life, when building forts in the woods. They act as a wind buffer.
I had a fire pit, but I was too scared to used it because I was somewhat close to the road.

It was in March, but it was unusually freezing that year.
And I picked the unfortunate spot behind: The Oyster Bar, Popeyes Fried Chicken and some other restaurant I've forgotten. When the wind was right, the smell was torture.
I eventually bbecame so desperate that I found a round cactus. I plucked out the big needles, but wasn't aware of tiny wispy needles. I grabbed the cactus to skin it and all those little needles became stuck in my skin. I stupidly wiped my hands on my pants, and then they became lodged there too.
But the cactus was delicious! It tasted a little like kiwii.

I tied my Coke and water to a string, and let it float in a nearby Creek to keep it cool.

It was THE BEST TIME OF MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!
But, I started feeling sorry for my parents. I dwelled on the things they must be thinking or fearing, so I called my uncle after 10 days.

Most epic was probably the time I pwned ASS at a shooting range, having little prior experience with firearms. I recall that I used a black powder rifle to blow away a gallon of juice, a revolver to pick off soda cans, and a shotgun to blast clay pidgeons flung into the air (of which, I shot 10/10). It all just seemed so natural to me.

The modern man is like a shaven tyger with claws clipped and teeth ground down forced into overalls or suit and told to forget what seems natural to him and instead do what is unnatural but 'civilised'.

Our love of simulations of a more primal time are as the spasms of this bloated tyger as it kicks its legs in its sleep. Unwilling to wake up and go to its steady office job the next day.

Pretty awesome moment for you, amirite.

well, the most epic has to be when my father came back to town for my graduation (he got into some trouble when i was young and had to take off, my parents have been divorced since i was 2). He was at the graduation and afterwards me and him went to get a bite to eat together at a little crappy dinner down one of my towns many backroads. So we're sitting there eating catching up (the thing he had to leave over was he robbed a supermarket for a crap load of food to help feed me and my brother, and upon exiting he ran into a cop and fought the cop to get away, breaking the cops nose and chin bone). I'm not saying he was in the right, but i'm not one to hold stuff against people much (tis bad for your spirit).

Anyways, we're eating and the school's officer comes in and sits at the counter and watch's us eat. My dad finishes and i finish. We pay our bill and go to my car (my dad doesn't buy anything that can grab authorities attention or he can be tracked by) so we get in my car

we pull out and head back down the dirt road, i check my mirror and sure enough the cop is behind us. After a few moments he pulls closer to run my tags, my dad says "go ahead and pull over, guess it's time to do my time". I on the other hand don't feel like watching my dad go to prison on a special day. So the cop waits a little bit longer. We got to a stop sign and as i pulled away from it he pulled up and made his stop at it.

This is when i made my go, i accelerated quickly but steadily, i happened to be going down a hill that cut off the cops site for a few moments, i had gained a good distance between us when he appeared over the hill i slowed down and he hit his blue lights, and i hit the gas pedal, turned the car down another backroad and kept taking random turns. I though i had gotten away from the officer, when i slowed down he appeared in my rear view mirror. i stepped on it again and came around a corner. I saw a house with a garage that you drive around behind it, so i quickly whipped it into the driveway, and stopped behind the garage. The cop went flying past, never seeing us. We left in the opposite direction.

That was probably my most exciting moment, i've been in 4 car chases (all back road country chases) it's something me and my friends just did around here for fun. Now though i'm older and know that it's a very dumb thing to do, and i'm not advocating it.

1) Swimming in the Great Barrier Reef :heart: Beautiful. Cold, since it was winter and the sky was cloudy, but beautiful.
2) Going to Italy, then carrying on a 30 minute conversation with some random Italian lady. Never thought I'd get to use my 4 years (well, two at this point) of Italian in real life.
3) Having the concert of my dreams happen (Rascal Flatts & Taylor Swift, after I had a dream that a member of RF said he'd see me on my birthday.), being in the 2nd row by the catwalk, and being able to give Taylor a colored pencil drawing of a scene from "Our Song" video. Her reaction was awesome, she held it up for the whole arena to see and everything. Later on, one of her band members said she was showing everyone the drawing, but wouldn't let it go.

And anytime I finish a piece of art I really like, I kinda get this feeling of awesomeness. Oh and when I found a sharks tooth on a beach... I'm easily amused I guess. lol
