More B6 and Melatonin questions (Dependence, Learning/Practicing how to LD, )

I'm new to LDing and I've enthusiastically started a dream journal and have picked up all the little techniques that everyone has so helpfully recommended on this site.

I was reading through some threads on B6 and I saw a question that was unanswered, but I was really curious about it too.

Can you take 100mg's of Vitamin B6 and 3mg of Melatonin a night to help LD, and then eventually kick the stuff (go natural or whatever) and still have the skill of LDing?

I'm 3 days in to taking Melatonin and B6.

I keep reading that anything you rely on eventually makes you dependent. And I've read that B6 can be harmless and is a very good supplement that anyone should take.
My worst fear is that I will continue to take B6 and Melatonin with great results, then eventually stop only to find out that I can't LD without it.

      Thanks everyone.

Oh and I'm taking Omega 3/6 just for the hell of it, if anyone has any comments on that.

      Alright that's all.

      Hi, welcome to the forum.

I also take Melatonin and B6 every night...but not for lucid dreaming...the Melatonin is mostly to help me fall asleep (and b/c its an awesome supplement that everyone should take). I do not feel that it has any effects on my dreams. Simply taking Melatonin & B6 won't allow you to have lucid dreams (unless you're already a natural). You need to learn the various skills involved with lucid dreaming. Supplements, drugs, etc. may help you get into the right state of mind to increase your chances of having a lucid dream while practicing certain induction methods. If anything, you will become dependent on the induction methods, not the vitamins. There is no reason to think that you will not be able to LD without the help of such aids. In fact there is really only one drug that is a real lucid dream aid, and that is Galantamine. If you learn how to LD on Galantamine and use it every time...then I could see there being a possible problem trying to have LDs without it. But as for Melatonin, B6, and anything anyone else tells you...nah.

Alright well, thanks a ton for the advice. Now I can begin my dream journey with a peaceful state of mind. I'll avoid the Galantamine, even if it's not that bad for you. Alright well, time for bed!
